Just when you thought it was safe to start expressing your right to free speech, Democrats in Congress are gearing up for a vote on a new piece of legislation to blatantly undermine the First Amendment. Known as the DISCLOSE Act (HR 5175), this bill – written by the head of the Democrats’ congressional campaign committee – is their response to the recent Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. In short, the Supreme Court found that the government could not restrict the free speech rights of individuals or other entities wishing to participate in the political dialogue.
It is hard to see how establishing a level playing field for free speech – as our Founding Fathers did by making it a right under the Constitution and which the Supreme Court upheld – is a threat to our democracy. Nevertheless, the White House and their allies on Capitol Hill see honest criticism as a threat to forcing their big government, liberal agenda through Congress. So, there is no time like the present – namely five months before an election – to start putting the muzzle on those individuals and organizations not sticking to the Democrats’ talking points.
Under the DISCLOSE Act, certain incorporated entities would be restricted in how they can exercise their free speech rights. There is an exemption for some in the media sphere like newspapers, TV news, and the like. However, there is one driving force in today’s public debate that is NOT exempt. Bloggers will not have the same exemption provided to other media sources. Never mind that the Supreme Court’s opinion in the Citizens United case stated, “Differential treatment of media corporations and other corporations cannot be squared with the First Amendment.”
For many bloggers to exercise their free speech rights, they would have to jump through the same onerous new hoops as many businesses, nonprofit groups, and even such threats to democracy as your local chamber of commerce. If this sounds like an absurd overreach by one party in power, I invite you to take a look at their government takeover of health care, taxpayer-funded bailouts, and general hostility to private sector economic growth.
The Obama Administration and Congressional Democrats have not racked up a stellar record of transparency and openness. For a White House that touted its willingness to engage critics openly in hopes of staving off greater partisan rancor, Obama’s team has endorsed backroom deal-making, special giveaways to garner support for their agenda, and a closed-door decision-making process that has the American people more fed up with Washington. Now, under their brand of leadership, they stand ready to stifle free speech via legislative fiat.
Democrats should not be allowed to give themselves carte blanche to shut down the ability of those in the blogosphere or elsewhere to participate in our nation’s collective dialogue. That flies in the face of our most sacred rights as American citizens.

Our economy, as is the case for much of the rest of the world’s economies, is currently imploding. Since all major economies in the world are based on valueless, un-backed, and worthless money, this situation should have been evident to the mainstream long ago. Of course the failing economy is just one piece of the puzzle, but it is most definitely the most important piece. With a so-called vibrant economy over the past decade or so, even though it was based on lies and deceit, and was a complete sham, the general population was easy to control during these so-called “prosperous” times. With the real economy now being exposed for the fraud that it is, and the real risks becoming more evident, the once complacent citizen is now becoming angry. Because of this, the evil U.S. federal government must find a new method of fooling the masses into believing in “their” government and country. War is the obvious answer, as war solidifies the putrid and false nationalistic worship of the peasants more than any other ploy.

It seems that since the first round of stimulus spending has been an utter and complete failure, the only way to get out of this mess is to do it again. The Keynesian model of spending money to stimulate growth only works if the money you are spending is from savings, not loans. The current idea in the Obama administration is to spend even more borrowed money to stimulate the economy. The IMF has warned the USA that our debt to GDP ratio will rise from the current 90% to 97% by next year and then to well over 100% by 2015.

"Felipe Calderon received liberal plaudits for falsely claiming Arizona's new immigration law uses racial profiling, but that wasn't the only baloney the Mexican president peddled during his state visit. Over four minutes of his Thursday address to Congress was spent lecturing Americans to renew the federal Assault Weapons Ban that sunset in September 2004. His justifications for the ban were all garbage. Mr. Calderon claimed that guns covered by the federal ban were particularly 'powerful weapons.' While the term 'assault weapons' may conjure up visions of military hardware, the inside guts of these feared guns are essentially the same as deer hunting rifles. The firing mechanisms in semiautomatics and machine guns are completely different. ... 'If you look carefully, you will notice that the violence in Mexico started to grow a couple of years before I took office in 2006,' Mr. Calderon said. 'This coincides, at least, with the lifting of the [U.S.] assault weapons ban in 2004.' ... Mr. Calderon's claim that 80 percent of guns used in Mexican crimes come from the United States is completely false. Most weapons seized in Mexico have traceable serial numbers that show they come from countries other than the United States. The 80 percent number reflects how many guns sent to the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for tracing end up being from America. Most weapons seized in Mexico aren't transferred to U.S. authorities, so that figure is meaningless for calculating overall totals. It is offensive for Mr. Calderon to come here as our guest and make up facts to blame America for Mexico's many problems. But it was more frightening to witness Democratic House and Senate members jump up and give a standing ovation when the foreigner called for renewing the Assault Weapons Ban. Some of the commenters at Gateway Pundit are speculating that the reason Chairman Zero hasn't given a Press Conference in almost a year is because his handlers are afraid he's on the verge of a breakdown, and a meltdown in front of the press would be bad for business the Revolution.
Apparently, Chairman Zero has been very bitchy lately toward Republicans, toward his staff, and even toward his worshipful, fawning minions in the press.
Chairman Zero has been utterly in over his head. At first, I wasn't going to give him grief over the oil spill, but when I found out that he dithered over letting the state of Louisiana build sand berms to protect the shoreline, I decided to file it under "Obama's Incompetence," a file that's rapidly getting thicker than Keith Olbermann's psych profile. His incompetence has already led to multi-trillion dollar deficits, an utterly ineffectual response to the Euro Crisis, an overt hostility to border control, and utter failure to halt the Iranian nuclear program. Also, he can't close Gitmo, he can't shut down talk radio, and the stock market -- which many Obama fanboys had been pointing to as his success story -- has started going south.
This has got to be tough on a guy who has glided through life without ever facing any significant challenges or opposition.

Massachusetts, the "sanctuary state" that it is, now caught up in a bit of irony. It seems a state representative was involved in a serious car accident with a very intoxicated "suspected" illegal alien. The Latino man blew a .25 on the blood alcohol meter (nearly dead for normal people) and when he was informed that he was in serious trouble, he laughed at the state police. You see, in Massachusetts, your immigration status cannot be checked by state law enforcement. The drunk driver knows that he's safe and won't be deported.
Now this law maker in Massachusetts can have a little taste of what the rest of us are complaining about.

The government’s finances have been “substantially worsened by the credit crisis, recession, and government spending to address these shocks,” Moody’s analysts lead by Steven A. Hess wrote. “The ratios of general government debt to GDP and to revenue are deteriorating sharply, and after the crisis they are likely to be higher than the ratios of other Aaa-rated countries.”
Debt to revenue has more than doubled over the past three years and is now over 400 percent, which could lead to “potential stress” on finances, the report said."

What would happen to someone who came into your home and took $117,980 by force, under threat of death or imprisonment? That person would be arrested and thrown into the deepest darkest cell in the prison. They might even let you share a cell with Bernie Madoff.

Calderon and all of his American Democrat supporters can just kiss my ass. I am embarrassed that he was not only allowed to make his anti-Arizona remarks, but also cheered on by the Democrats in Congress and the President of the United States. Obviously, he's a lot like our current bunch of idiots who criticize and misrepresent laws they haven't read, since it appears that he's never read the immigration laws of his own country. He has the gall to tell Arizona that the law is bad. Well, of course it is for him and Mexico since Billions of US Dollars flow from the USA through the illegal immigrants to the Mexican economy every year. Why else is there a Mexican equivalent of Western Union on every street corner in cities with high numbers of illegals?
I am embarrassed by our president and his flagrant disregard for the laws of the United States of America, The Constitution of These United States and the Sovereignty of the State of Arizona. This is supposed to be a country of laws; laws that apply to all, equally, not a country of whimsy. This president and his constant stream of apologies to dictators and tyrants is an embarrassment to the American People. He needs to "grow a pair" and stand up for the men and women of this country, put America and her interests above everything, including his own interests. He better do it soon, because we, as a people are growing weary of tyranny.

My hat is off to Kevin Costner. He is one Hollywood type that has put his money where his mouth is. After investing $24 Million of his own money, he and a business partner have come up with a device that can seperate oil from sea water at a rate of 2000 gallons per minute and return the clean water to the sea. Good for him! I think BP would be smart to invest in several of these machines and put them out to sea.
Here is a great example of the free market solving a problem.

Obama needs to know citizenship of Michigan HS seniors
Aparently, it's wrong for Arizona to ask for proof of citizenship of people in the state, but it's ok for the Secret Service to ask for Kalamazoo, MI high school seniors to provide birth dates, social security numbers and proof of citizenship.

This is an invasion, people. They may not all be carrying guns, but they do carry economic and biological weapons. The incidence of TB for instance is up 80% fro 1980's levels due to the influx of third world invaders from South of the border. The economic impact of illegals on the medical and education systems is well documented.
I think instead of cameras, maybe we should install machine guns. They would stop coming pretty quickly if we started actually "defending" our border.

You might have noticed this New York Times editorial by Paul Krugman. In it, he says that libertarianism doesn't work, and proves it by pointing to the ongoing BP oil spill.
So let me get this straight: liability caps, which are very un-libertarian, and incompetent regulatory bureaucracies, which are very un-libertarian, show us that libertarianism is...no good?
I think I've heard this one before. Didn't a lot of people point to the failures of the very heavily regulated banking system, and blame them on the free market?
It must be Opposite Day!

Feds Bully Vermont Farmer
While thousands of illegals cross the southern border daily and the Feds do little to stop them, the same federal agency is bullying a Vermont farmer into selling part of his farm. The farm is located on the Canadian border and is a point of entry for about 3 or 4 cars per hour. If the farmer refuses to sell 5 acres of land to the government for $39,500, it will likely be siezed by "eminent domain".

I was just watching "America: "The Story of Us""
And was stunned at the actual lack of Historical accuracy. They called in great historians like Sean "Diddy" Combs, Sheryl Crow and that amazingly popular beer summit attendee, Henry Louis Gates, Jr. All of whom seem to be experts in history of the south, why else would they be there?
I cannot believe how the History Channel distorted the history of the South, slavery and the events that lead up to the Civil War! They called the war- "The war over slavery"!!!!
I am sick of the South being portrayed in this light. The fact of the matter is that the war was fought over economics. The South paid the taxes, and they were spent in the North. The Union was no longer equitable for both parties. I will refer you to a few interesting facts:

Apprehension seems to exist among the people of the Southern States that by the accession of a Republican Administration their property and their peace and personal security are to be endangered. There has never been any reasonable cause for such apprehension. Indeed, the most ample evidence to the contrary has all the while existed and been open to their inspection. It is found in nearly all the published speeches of him who now addresses you. I do but quote from one of those speeches when I declare that—
I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the States where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so.
After reading "When in the Course of Human Events:Arguing the Case for Southern Secession" by Charles Adams, I have never looked at the South that I grew up in in the same light as the one taught to me by the NEA in the Public School System.

This month the euro has come under extreme pressure following a Greek debt-crisis that threatened to spread across the continent, prompting policymakers to make available a $1 trillion rescue package, which Rogers said could spell the end for the European currency.
"It was a terrible thing to do, it ensures that the euro will disappear some day because now it means anyone can do whatever they like because they're going to be bailed out.
"I own the euro but after what they did the other day I'm having serious second thoughts. The euro will continue to corrode from within and someday we won't have a euro at all."
The eurohas fallen more than 7 percent against the US dollar in the last month and hit record lows against the Swiss franc on concerns that fiscal tightening in Europe will stunt economic growth.
The latest euro zone crisis has helped to pressure the price of some dollar-denominated commodities as they become more expensive to European buyers. But gold, often seen as a safe-haven asset has soared, hitting fresh record highs.
Rogers believes natural resource assets are a good investment because of their finite supply, leading to the theory commodities are in an extended or "supercycle" market rally.
"I certainly expect gold to go much higher over the next few years. Paper money is going to be debased and the price of real assets will be enhanced," Rogers said.
"I don't see the new commodity supplies coming that will end the bull market."
As crude oil supplies decline and governments focus on more ecologically friendly solutions to global power demands, the alternative energy sector is expected to grow.
"It's (alternative energy) a good investment right now. They've got a great, great future. Someday they may end the bull market in the energy sector," Rogers said."

More than 200,000 small nonprofits across the nation are days away from losing their tax-exempt status because they haven't filed a new form with the Internal Revenue Service.
"Many of these groups already operate on razor-thin budgets and some worry an unexpected tax bill could force organizations to close.
"The nonprofits in your backyards, some of them are going to be gone," said Suzanne Coffman, a spokeswoman for GuideStar, which tracks data on nonprofits.
It's most likely the nonprofits aren't aware of the Monday deadline that only applies to groups that report $25,000 or less in income, excluding churches. Those organizations may not find out until Jan. 1, 2011, when they're notified they have to pay taxes on donations they thought were exempt. And it could be months before their nonprofit status is restored."
Am I the only one who sees this for what it is? The government is forcing all private aid societies to lose their nonprofit status, either to force them onto the tax rolls or to shut them down. Either way the government wins and liberty loses. By shutting them down the government forces higher taxation of all individuals and assumes some of the role of the nonprofits. This, of course, leads to less individual wealth across the board, more inefficient bureaucracy and less service to the needy at a higher cost to all. A fond farewell to my Uncle Bill
"All is well and right with the world, as far as the funeral goes anyway. My uncle Bill Johnson had dementia and was a real hand full for my aunt the last couple of years. He was a great guy, loved to fish, was a WWII Navy Fighter pilot and flew many missions in the South Pacific during the war. He was a member of Ancient Landmark Lodge 231 in Savannah, GA. He and my dad were best friends for many years and went through the Lodge officer's line together, my dad was Master in 1963.
He's gone on to a much better existance, since I can't imagine the one he was living was much like having a life. He had a living will and DNR orders standing, so after the Massive stroke last Friday, it was really just a matter of time. His widow seems to have an overwhelming sense of relief.
I'll miss him. He taught me how to weave cast nets when I was a kid, took me flying in a 1947 Taylorcraft airplane, that I believe is still in his garage. It ran on regular gas. He even landed on a rural highway on his way to Oshkosh to put gas in it. We used to fish together a lot when I was a kid. He enjoyed nothing more than being out on the river. He's buried in Bonaventure Cemetary in Savannah, 200 feet from the bluff, overlooking that river he loved so much.

This crisis may be spreading worldwide as the debt crisis continues, there have been reports that it may spread to Japan, one of the biggest economies in the world. There is now a bill before Congress, introduced by Rep Ron Kind (D-WI), to monitor the Body Mass Index of all American children between the ages of 2-18 to stem the rate of obesity in children. Or so they say. More nanny state regulation is all this amounts to.
People no longer even want to be personally responsible for their, or their own children's health. They want the state to take over that function for them.
This bill would also move the nutritional information box from the back or side of a a package to the front, so it can be seen while you scan the shelves. I assume because any consumer is too stupid to pick up a box of cereal or can of beans, turn it around and read the nutritional information and make a choice of whether to buy it or not. Does anyone read the nutritional information now? I doubt that the people in question either read or understand any of that information as it is. So what does moving it to the front do for you? It reduces advertising space for the manufacturer of the product. We wouldn't want capitalism or profitability to get in the way of reading nutritional information, now would we.

This penalty will likely be waived by those below the poverty line (who also have the highest incidence of childhood obesity) and will only be another tool of the Marxist regime's wealth redistribution scheme.

Oil companies face an immediate tax rise of 1 cent per barrel to help to pay for the clean-up in the Gulf of Mexico under proposed legislation rushed out by the White House yesterday.
That cost will, of course, be passed to consumers not the oil companies themselves. And what about after the clean up? Will the tax be removed? Just like the tolls you pay to cross the George Washington Bridge into Manhattan, the bridge has cost of the bridge was paid back years ago, but the toll keeps rising. Once a scheme is in place to bring revenue into the federal government, it stays in place due to the bureaucracy built up to administer the new revenue. We can't put those people out of work, now can we?

I would hazard to guess that she is very much in favor of a national gun registry, followed by bans of certain types of firearms, say semi-automatic rifles and handguns, then bans on certain types of accessories like scopes and flash suppressors. A national registry is the first step toward out and out confiscation. If you register them, the government will know where to find them.
As Thomas Jefferson so eloquently put it, "Those who beat their swords into plowshares, will plow for those who do not." I plow for no man but myself.

The oil spill in the gulf conspiracy theory draws out an awful lot of anger from the left, but the timing on reintroduction of the Cap and Trade legislation is kind of coincidental, don't you think?

Liberals claim to combat poverty in two principal ways.

When Cowards Have Power- L.Smith
How did it come to pass that cowards obtained such a grip on power in the third millennium, and why do others choose to follow them? It is apparent to me that the majority are not mesmerized by the rhetoric of these weak human beings, but too many appear to blindly follow their lead like lemmings into the sea.
Maybe it started in the Middle East, with Hamas and Hezbollah. Sometime after the Arab-Israeli wars of 1967 and 1973, after being roundly defeated by their hated enemy, the Arabs decided that it would be fruitless to attempt to defeat the infidel by conventional (and honorable) means. Instead, some compassionate mullah from the Peaceful Religion of Islam decides that more damage can be heaped upon their enemy by lobbing rockets randomly from afar, or by using their own brainwashed youth to murder innocents as they take their own lives. Why? Because they are afraid. Afraid to face their enemy, because they know they will lose. Ask yourself: Why didn’t Yasir Arafat ever sacrifice himself for the glories of Mohammed and heavenly virgins? Why does Osama bin Laden spout his brave diatribes from the safety of a mountain cave? Why was Saddam Hussein found hiding in a hole in the ground? They want to convince others to die for Allah, but no-no, not them. They’re way too important to sacrifice themselves. Are there any Muslims who ask these questions? It seems so obvious!
The blame for this behavior could be placed on the nature of their culture. From an early age, men are taught to dominate the weaker gender – force all females to hide themselves, keep them from learning, kill them when they have the audacity to think for themselves (“She brought shame to the family!”). It is akin to the 200 pound sixth grader who embarrasses and humiliates the bespectacled third grader. Yeah, buddy. You’re real brave. Why don’t you try it with someone who might actually fight back?
These emasculated Arab wimps are afraid to face their enemy like a man. Why did Abu Musab al Zarqawi behead his victims in Iraq while they were tied up and being held down? Why not give the infidel a knife, have the two of them face off in a cage fight, and stream the video to the world, so that all may witness the awesome power of the Warriors of Allah? Simple! Because al Zarqawi has (correction: had) less testosterone than my castrated dog. These pansified she-men are not going to risk their lives for the glory of Islam. After all, how would it look to the rest of the world if the great and powerful Allah failed to protect his loyal servant in the face of the heathen American?
Examine for a moment the teachings of Christianity with those of the Peaceful Religion of Islam. Jesus said, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13). Whereas I am no authority on the teachings of Mohammed, his deranged mullahs are preaching, “Greater love for Allah hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life and take as many innocent men, women, and children with him as possible.” A first grader could easily explain the differences in philosophy. One praises the sacrifice of life to save another’s, the other praises the sacrifice of life by taking others. One is good. One is bad. It doesn’t take Aristotle to decipher the logic.
And now, forces have embarked upon the Pussification of America. The wimpy pacifists have arrived in positions of power here, and the results of their utopian, negotiation-filled, cartoonish fantasy-world policies are disastrous. Our president bows before foreign leaders and apologizes for our country on the worldwide stage. He kowtows to the demands of Russia in Eastern Europe and refuses to use the term “Islamic Terrorist”. The snobby, condescending, hyper-sensitive media has managed to push the limits of Political Correctness to the level of insanity.
How long before someone – anyone – in Washington calls these Left-Wing Americans and Radical Muslims out for what they are? Cowards. Sissies. Sugar britches. No, we get represented by the meek Lindsay Graham (“but he’s bipartisan!”) or the weak-kneed and weak-voiced Harry Reid (“the war is lost”).
It all reminds me of the Hans Christian Andersen story The Emperor’s New Clothes, where two weavers knit the Emperor a new suit, using magical threads that are invisible to those who are incompetent or “just hopelessly stupid”. Afraid to look like an idiot, no one says anything until a child points out what is evident, “But he isn’t wearing anything at all!”
That’s where I feel like we are today in this country. Afraid to be condemned as a bigot or racist or xenophobe, no one states what is painfully obvious. If only someone with the intestinal fortitude of our founding fathers would stand up like that innocent child and scream the truth until everyone heard: “But most terrorists are Arab!” “But we have a lot of oil right here!” “But they’re here illegally!” “But nuclear power is clean and cheap!” “But all he’s ever been is a Community Organizer!”
The great masses of voters in this country are in Red State America. Would you like to get elected President of the United States in 2012? Here is your platform:
· Call Islamic Jihadism what it is, and start profiling Arabs and Muslims.
· Drill for oil here like there’s none anywhere else in the world.
· Implement the Fair Tax and abolish all other taxes.
· Call out the media for the liberal, weak, arrogant fools that they are (think Ronald Reagan).
· Undo every government program installed by the current socialist administration; then begin dismantling the others.
· Build up the National Defense in such a way that negotiation with adversaries is no longer a part of our foreign policy. Nations will act appropriately or deal with the consequences.
· Redefine the word “bipartisanship” to mean abandoning principles in favor of a solution.
In short: Grow a pair.

Dorgan, North Dakota Democrat, plans an amendment to prevent companies from getting so big that they would need taxpayer aid in the first place. His amendment would force firms to divest of the parts of their business that made them too big."
I guess this falls in line with the President's comment of "at some point you've earned enough money"? Lets think about this for a minute. Say you own a newspaper-"You may now only sell 3 pages of advertisement, but keep the paper the same size" or a gas station- "you many now only sell 100 gallons per day" how about being a writer- "you may now only sell 100,000 copies, maximum, for any book you write"

The 'words and the intent' of the Ex Post Facto Clause encompass '[e]very law that changes the punishment, and inflicts a greater punishment, than the law annexed to the crime, when committed.' Calder v. Bull, 3 U.S. (1 Dall.) 386, 390 (1798) (opinion of Chase, J.).
An ex post facto law is a law passed after the occurrence of an event or action which retrospectively changes the legal consequences of the event or action.
Obviously any law, Ex Post Facto, from the Latin meaning-"from after the action", is hereby Unconstitutional in nature. I think we can all agree on that, yes? So how is it that a law was passed to force AIG executives to return bonuses through punative taxation? How is it now that the same people who were screaming that Arizona's new immigration law is a violation of Constitutionally protected rights, garaunteed by the 4th Amendment, are the same people who are lining up to support legislation called "Big Oil Bailout Prevention Act" that would raise the economic damages liability cap for offshore oil spills from $75 million to $10 billion.
As White House spokesman Robert Gibbs put it on Monday the Obama administration will "keep a boot on the throat" of BP to make sure the company stops oil from a sunken rig from pouring into the Gulf of Mexico as soon as possible. (Would that be a Jack Boot, there Gibbsy?) If that doesn't all add up to Ex Post Facto legislation, I don't know what does.
If the Constitution of The United States isn't equal for all, then it is equal for none. If those in Congress expect to continue to pass laws for some and not others, as they see fit, then law is no longer a rule but a whim and our Republic is actually a Dictatorship.

As the Greek debt bailout begins to pull the Euro and Dollar down, the stock markets around the world started losing as well. The losses since the Greek bailout have erased any stock gains of the last 12 months, and it seems to be continuing.

If you think the problems of debt in Europe are of importance, you had better pay attention to what Bernanke admits to in this video.
The Federal Reserve Bank admits to creating money out of thin air in order to monetize the debt of the USA. The same Federal Reserve Bank who is charged by Congress with managment of our currency has essentially devalued every single dollar in circulation, and more importantly in savings. The Fed is stealing your wealth by diluting dollars. Inflation signals have already started cropping up.
Last month inflation across the board was around 2%. Wholesale food prices are up last quarter by 49%, the largest single quarter rise in prices in 30+ years. This is nothing compared to what will happen when people start catching on to what the Fed has been doing.
With sound money, there is little to no inflation of prices, ever. When every single dollar in circulation was backed by gold, as is required by the Coinage Act of 1792, prices remained very stable in America. Since the creation of the Federal Reserve Banking System, the US dollar has lost 97% of it's value against the value of real goods.
