"… whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
… But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security." - Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776
Well, that was how it was supposed to work. Just a few short years after the signing of the Declaration, Congress found it necessary to pass the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798, which made it a crime for anyone to criticize the government ”through writing or any other shape, form, or fashion.”
If that weren't enough Congress, under Wilson, passed the U.S. Sedition Act of 1918. Among other things, the act made it a crime to ”willfully utter, print, write, or publish any disloyal, profane, scurrilous, or abusive language about the form of government of the United States, or the Constitution of the United States, or the military or naval forces of the United States.”
What sort of Sedition Act can we expect, and I do mean expect, under the Dear Leader, BHO?
