Susan Estrich, before and after

Before

After.
Hmmm, what do you think all of that hamming it up for Sean Hannity will get you? I tried to find some good photos on the web, but these were the best I could come up with. I will assure you that the upper photo is from 2007, leading up to the election and the lower photo is from some time in 2009. I saw Susan on Hannity tonight, and the second picture looks like it should be from 2015. She was looking great, so all I can say is her plastic surgeon is alot better than Sandra Bullock's.
Doesn't matter how hot she looks, she is still a crazy statist. And that nutsy yankee smoker voice...jeez.

Krugman-What a hack flip flopping hack!

Krugman, the "Nobel Prize Winning Economist" at the NYT is a Keynesian's Keynesian, and now he's blaming economic policies that he endorsed as the reason that we are in the beginning stages of a 3rd "Depression". He has argued for deficit spending in the past and now is railing against it. This man should be standing in a bread line, out of work and having a first hand look at the sort of policies that brought us here. He wouldn't know or understand Austrian Economics and Sound Money policy if it were explained on an elemetery school level.
In this morning's NYT, Krugman had this to say:

"We are now, I fear, in the early stages of a third depression. It will probably look more like the Long Depression than the much more severe Great Depression. But the cost — to the world economy and, above all, to the millions of lives blighted by the absence of jobs — will nonetheless be immense.

And this third depression will be primarily a failure of policy. Around the world — most recently at last weekend’s deeply discouraging G-20 meeting — governments are obsessing about inflation when the real threat is deflation, preaching the need for belt-tightening when the real problem is inadequate spending."

And just where, pray tell, will the funds to combat this "inadequate spending" come from? Moron!

Hope N Change: Obama Now Says Mandate Is A Tax

After Barack Obama went on the record to "absolutely reject this notion" that the individual health insurance mandate is a tax, his administration is now arguing exactly the opposite in court. The Department of Justice filed a motion to dismiss a Florida-based lawsuit seeking to overturn the health care overhaul and, according to American Spectator, "cited the Anti-Injunction Act, which restricts courts from interfering with the government's ability to collect taxes." A DoJ memo argues that "no suit for the purposes of restraining the assessment or collection of any tax shall be maintained in any court by any person." So for those wondering if Obama's "no individual tax" promise would stand in a court of law, you should soon get your answer.

Meanwhile, with mid-term elections fast approaching, the Obama camp is putting insurance companies on notice not to raise rates artificially because of the new law. U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius issued the following Orwellian warning: "We want to caution insurance companies that rate increases would be watched very closely." As Aetna CEO Ronald Williams noted regarding the health care bill, however, "I think there was a recognition that consumers are going to get more. When you get more, you pay more." Apparently, this administration has yet to acknowledge basic economics.

California Welfare EBT Cards Will Get You Cash At Casino ATM's

Just when the liberals are pushing for more welfare and extended unemployment benefits, again, it's been exposed that large numbers of State of California issued welfare EBT cards are being used to get cash from casino ATMs. I mean why not gamble with the bankrupt state's money? I suppose you can get cash from the ATMs to buy drugs as well.
This is yet another reason why welfare doesn't work, for anyone.

Welcome to the police state!

Did poor little Barry get his feelings hurt?

Ain't it intriguing that the only time the President makes a snap decision is when his oh-so-tender ego gets bruised? The man couldn't make a decision about troop levels for months when our valiant troops were fighting and dying in Afghanistan. The man, even after 60 days, has yet to devote the right resources to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and spent much of the critical first month campaigning, partying and golfing. After 18 months, he still can't figure out whether to close Gitmo or not or, for that matter, where to hold terrorist trials.Mark Levin is famous (infamous, maybe) for stating that Obama is the "closest thing we've ever had to a dictator". That may or may not be accurate, but his ego may be far more dominant than his predecessors in the office.

You'll never see this on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS or the NYT. Why? Because it doesn't fit the lie that only a gun crazed-right-wing-white-tea partier do this sort of thing.

You have the right to question a census worker

You can download and print out this Public Servant Questionnaire PDF and keep it handy by your door, when the census worker knocks on your door hand the questionnaire to him or her. Be sure you have two witnesses when the census worker fills this out as the signatures of two witnesses are required. It is highly unlikely however, that the census worker is going to fill out your Public Servant Questionnaire. I suppose then, if you chose to, that it would be possible to say, “Turnabout is fair play, I guess I won’t be filling out your questionnaire either.”
The instructions for the public servant (in this case the census worker) are printed on the first page and are as follows:
“Public Law 93-579 states in part: “The purpose of this Act is to provide certain safeguards for an individual against invasion of personal privacy by requiring Federal agencies to permit an individual to determine what records pertaining to him are collected, maintained, used, or disseminated by such agencies.” The following questions are based upon that act and are necessary in order that this individual may make a reasonable determination concerning divulgence of information to this agency.
Fill out the form completely. If any question does not apply, mark the answer with N/A or Not applicable. Do not leave any question blank.”

On the subject of sound money

I stumbled across a theory involving the assasination of John F. Kennedy that I had never heard before. It seems that Executive Order 1110, which required all Federal Reserve Notes to be backed by silver. This order would have effectively put the Federal Reserve Bank out of business and returned the coinage of money back to it's rightful, Constitutional, place. We saw recently what happens when you mess around with the central bankers, in the death of the finance minister of Poland who was about to pull Poland out of it's commitment to joining the Euro to protect the economy of his own country. As the Euro dropped the Polish zloty was gaining. Funny how former KGB boss and president, Putin immediately announced that he would lead the investigation into the plane crash. Like putting the fox in charge of the hen house.
The Federal Reserve, much like the other Central Banks around the world, take their money making very seriously.

Dear Mr. President....an open letter from Jon Voight

An open letter from actor Jon Voight to President Obama:
June 22, 2010
Dear President Obama:
You will be the first American president that lied to the Jewish people, and the American people as well, when you said that you would defend Israel, the only Democratic state in the Middle East, against all their enemies. You have done just the opposite. You have propagandized Israel, until they look like they are everyone's enemy - and it has resonated throughout the world. You are putting Israel in harm's way, and you have promoted anti-Semitism throughout the world.
You have brought this to a people who have given the world the Ten Commandments and most laws we live by today. The Jewish people have given the world our greatest scientist and philosophers, and the cures for many diseases, and now you play a very dangerous game so you can look like a true martyr to what you see and say are the underdogs. But the underdogs you defend are murderers and criminals and want Israel eradicated.
You have brought to Arizona a civil war, once again defending the criminals and illegals, creating a meltdown for good, loyal, law-abiding citizens. Your destruction of this country may never be remedied, and we may never recover. I pray to God you stop, and I hope the people in this great country realize your agenda is not for the betterment of mankind, but for the betterment of your politics.
With heartfelt and deep concern for America and Israel,
Jon Voight

Slimy Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) was just caught running a fake tea party candidate, Victoria Torres, in the state House district 51 race.Torres is a Grayson stooge.Grayson has a history of spouting off vile accusations against Republicans.
Roll Call reported, via FOX Nation:
One of Rep. Alan Grayson’s pollsters is running for the state House in Florida as a Tea Party candidate, fueling Republican suspicions that the Democratic Congressman is using to a newly formed third party to boost his own re-election bid.
On Friday, Victoria Torres, 44, of Orlando qualified to run as a Tea Party candidate in state House district 51 in the last hours of the qualifying period.
A call to Torres was returned by Nick Egoroff, communications director for the Florida Tea Party, who described Torres as a “quasi-paralegal assistant who works in a law office.” But apparently, Torres is also a pollster.
According to records from the Florida Department of State office, Torres incorporated Public Opinion Strategies Inc. in December 2008. In the first quarter of this year, Grayson’s campaign made two payments to her firm, totaling $11,000, for polling and survey expenses.

Ameteur Hour in Washington

Rather than stopping an oil catastrophe in the Gulf, Obama has spent several days on the golf course, watching baseball, watching NBA playoffs, attending fund raisers, criticizing the military leadership, having private concerts by Paul McCartney and now the coup de gras- Declaring war against Arizona.
This man is a buffoon.

"The Obama administration has a lot of fights on its hands. Putting aside real wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, there's the battle against leaking oil in the Gulf, the struggle against 9.7 percent unemployment across the country, and clashes over the president's agenda on Capitol Hill. Despite all that, the White House has found time to issue a new declaration of war, this time against an unlikely enemy: the state of Arizona."

Welcome to my nightmare. No wonder it feels like the more money you make, the less you actually have.

The crowning of a new monarch?

"We live in a Constitutional Republic. The President's job under the Constitution is to enforce the laws made by the elected Congress. His job is not to create new laws and enforce them all by himself. His job is as magistrate under the Constitution, not as Caudillo. He is not the law. He is supposed to enforce what Congress decides. The BP behavior is reminiscent of how, immediately after assuming office, Mr. Obama, with no Congressional authority or administrative allowance, simply made a phone call to fire the head of GM. When I called the White House press office to ask under what law or regulation Mr. Obama was acting, I was told he did not need a law. If the government put a lot of money into GM, it could call the shots at GM, I was told. But under what authority, I asked. 'None needed,' was the final answer. ... The same goes for Mr. Obama's demand that BP pay the lost wages of oil and gas workers suspended from work because of the moratorium on Gulf of Mexico underseas drilling. There simply was no legislation allowing this kind of specific demand. Mr. Obama's demand was in the nature of a threat, more than a Constitutional act. ... [T]o create specific enactments and actions without any authority -- now Mr. Obama's specialty -- is so at odds with the law of the land that it terrifies me. These are not the acts of a teacher on Constitutional law. These are the acts of a big city boss or a third world dictator." --columnist Ben Stein

I don't know about you, but this kinda creeps me out a little.

Thomas Sowell on Spilled Oil

"The big oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is bad enough in itself. But politics can make anything worse. Let's stop and think. Either the government knows how to stop the oil spill or they don't. If they know how to stop it, then why have they let thousands of barrels of oil per day keep gushing out, for weeks on end? All they have to do is tell BP to step aside, while the government comes in to do it right. If they don't know, then what is all this political grandstanding about keeping their boot on the neck of BP, the Attorney General of the United States going down to the Gulf to threaten lawsuits -- on what charges was unspecified -- and President Obama showing up in his shirt sleeves? Just what is Obama going to do in his shirt sleeves, except impress the gullible? He might as well have shown up in a tuxedo with white tie, for all the difference it makes. This government is not about governing. It is about creating an impression. That worked on the campaign trail in 2008, but it is a disaster in the White House, where rhetoric is no substitute for reality. ... This is not about oil. This is about snake oil." --economist Thomas Sowell

The NRA has made a pact with the Devil and sold it's membership down the river

Disappointment does not come from opponents; it comes from friends.
Earlier this week, the NRA issued a statement when it was becoming known that Democrats had cut a deal exempting the NRA from coverage under the DISCLOSE Act, which is the Nancy Pelosi-Chuck Schumer response to the Citizens United First Amendment decision by the Supreme Court that targets free speech.
The NRA's initial statement of justification reflected the logical inconsistency of the NRA's position, to wit:
Thus, the NRA's first obligation must be to its members and to its most ardent defense of firearms freedom for America's lawful gun owners.

I strongly reccommend that if you are a gun owner, or just value the 1st Amendment to the Constitution, that you call, e-mail, fax or send carrier pigeons to your congressman and senators today! The vote is happening TODAY.
This is an all out assault on free speech in America.
If you are a member of the NRA, you may want to re-think that. I have. I went as far as to ask for my dues back.

Buy Silver While You Can

Silver has been sizzling and causing lots of buzz in the industry. Investors are excited.
Part of the hubbub is due to its current run. Since its February 8 low, silver has roared ahead 22.4% (through June 21) and has doubled from its November 2008 low.
This excitement has spilled over into greater investment demand – especially so for coins. The U.S. Mint sold more Silver Eagles in the first quarter of this year – just over nine million – than any prior quarter in its history. The Royal Canadian Mint produced 9.7 million silver maple leafs in 2009, also a record.

Greenspan Says U.S. May Soon Reach Borrowing Limit - Bloomberg
“Perceptions of a large U.S. borrowing capacity are misleading,” and current long-term bond yields are masking America’s debt challenge, Greenspan wrote in an opinion piece posted on the Wall Street Journal’s website. “Long-term rate increases can emerge with unexpected suddenness,” such as the 4 percentage point surge over four months in 1979-80, he said.
Greenspan rebutted “misplaced” concern that reducing the deficit would put the economic recovery in danger, entering a debate among global policy makers about how quickly to exit from stimulus measures adopted during the financial crisis. U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner said this month that while fiscal tightening is needed over the “medium term,” governments must reinforce the recovery in private demand.
“The United States, and most of the rest of the developed world, is in need of a tectonic shift in fiscal policy,” said Greenspan, 84, who served at the Fed’s helm from 1987 to 2006. “Incremental change will not be adequate.”

And yet the fans of Keynesian Economics still try to borrow their way out of debt. Thomas Jefferson was right on target when he said "you cannot borrow to prosperity". The Austrian School is still right and if we had followed it's teaching and methodology, we would not be at the precipice staring into the black hole of depression to come.

What could go wrong? 17 Afghan pilots AWOL from a Texas Air Force base.

Fox News has an exclusive report that should send some shivers down your spine:
A nationwide alert has been issued for 17 members of the Afghan military who have gone AWOL from a Texas Air Force base where foreign military officers who are training to become pilots are taught English... The Afghan officers and enlisted men have security badges that give them access to secure U.S. defense installations, according to the lookout bulletin, "Afghan Military Deserters in CONUS [Continental U.S.]," issued by Naval Criminal Investigative Service in Dallas...The Afghans were attending the Defense Language Institute at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. The DLI program teaches English to military pilot candidates and other air force prospects from foreign countries allied with the U.S. ...Each Afghan was issued a Department of Defense Common Access Card, an identification card used to gain access to secure military installations, with which they "could attempt to enter DOD installations," according to the bulletin. Base security officers were encouraged to disseminate the bulletin to their personnel.....The bulletin requests, "If any Afghan pictured herein is encountered, detain the subject and contact your local Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office, the FBI or NCIS."I'm not sure what the big deal is.Thousands of heavily armed drug- and human-smugglers from Mexico are streaming into Arizona every month, to the point where local sheriffs say the areas are no longer under the control of the U.S. government. In reaction, Attorney Generic Eric Holder is preparing to sue... Arizona. As for a measly 17 Afghan pilots? Has anyone looked in Janet Napolitano's basement?

134 years and 1 oil spill later, P&J Oyster Company is out of oysters

Owner Al Sunseri, who I interviewed days after the BP Horizon exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, tells CNN he had to send his workers home Friday."My son -- who is delivering oysters right now -- he asked me yesterday, 'Should I go apply for food stamps?'" Sunseri told CNN."I started here when I was 21, and I remember how I wanted to carry on the tradition of our business and I remember the feeling of not only the pressures of trying to carry on this long-standing business but also the opportunity that I had to do it," he said. P&J is the oldest oyster company in America, based in the French Quarter for 134-years, and provides oysters to many of New Orleans most famous seafood restaurants. When I talked to Sunseri in April, only 10 days after the spill, he was concerned but not fatalistic."Well, Lou, if it's not one thing it's another. We dealt with the (proposed Gulf Coast oyster) ban earlier this year, now this ... it's looking pretty bad," Sunseri told Beyond Horizon.Today, any optimism he had has disappeared. He has told his employees to work with BP for compensation over lost wages.Over the last decade or more, the Gulf of Mexico has provided about two thirds of the nation's oysters, according to federal data. In 2008, Louisiana landed nearly 13 million pounds of oysters, about $40 million worth.Further clouding the future of Sunseri and countless oystermen across the gulf is the fact that its spawning season for young oysters that usually take 18 to 24 months to grow to market size.Lou Rom, an award-winning investigative reporter, with over 2,000 articles published, hosts Lou Rom Live weekdays from 4-6 pm on KVOL1330. A little update

Like I said earlier, if the president is lying about his religion, he will lie about anything. Like:
Let's review shall we?
-He lied about sticking with public campaign financing.
-He lied about his knowledge of his racist, separatist Pastor
-He lied about his knowledge and current relationship with domestic terrorist William Ayers.
-He lied about his personal relationship, and financial dealings with jailed Tony Rezko.
-He lied about knowledge of his own Aunt being in the United States illegally....and she'still here.
-He lied when he ran on hope and change, he is giving us gloom, doom, and same ole democrat spending programs.
-He lied when he ran on posting bills on the internet for 72 hours so the citizens can read them before their representatives vote but instead pressured everyone to vote before they even had a chance to read the bill and NEVER posted it on the web.
-He lied about televising the health care bill process on C-SPAN......8 TIMES!.
-He lied when he ran on not having any lobbyists in his administration, he has many, he even nominated some the had to withdrawal because they were tax cheats as well.
-He lied when he ran on being transparent but even the press is beginning to complain.
-He lied when he ran on being bipartisan but instead says "I won" and doesn't allow any Republican amendments.
-He lied about eliminating "earmarks" in legislation he would sign.
-He lied about appointing members to his administration who are honest, how many of his nominees have already been busted for not paying taxes?
-He lied about his role in AIG getting bonuses.
-He lied about taxing health care benefits.
-He lied about repealing the Defense of Marriage ActHe lied about ending "don't ask don't tell".
-He lied about closing Gitmo in 2009
-He lied about removing troops from Iraq.
-He lied about creating jobs, look at Nasa and now the offshore drilling industry.
-He lied about the cost of Obamacare.
With all of that in mind; why would you believe anything he has to say about anything. The man is a fraud.

Teleprompter of The United States of America

Obama a Muslim? Who cares about his religion?

I'm more concerned that if it's true, he has been lying through his teeth. If he will lie about one thing, he will lie about everything.
From American Thinker:
"The American President told me in confidence that he is a Muslim."
That was the claim of Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit, as reported in the May 2010 issue of Israel Today. According to journalist Avi Lipkin, Gheit appeared on Nile TV's "Round Table Show" in January, on which he said that "he had had a one-on-one meeting with Obama who swore to him that he was a Moslem, the son of a Moslem father and step-son of Moslem step-father, that his half-brothers in Kenya were Moslems, and that he was loyal to the Moslem agenda."
How plausible is Gheit's reported claim about Obama? Let's review Obama's track record:
March 2009: Obama declares the "war on terror" is over, despite a dramatic increase in jihad war ops.
March 2009: he floats the idea that he will talk to violent, genocidal Hamas.
March 2009: he demands that more Muslim Americans work in the Obama administration and insists that they be recruited.
April 2009: Obama tells Europe to admit Islamic Turkey into the EU, much to the consternation of the Europeans.
April 2009: Obama demands that non-Muslims respect Islam (despite our differences) in a speech in Turkey.
April 2009: Obama says in a speech from Turkey, "We are not a Christian nation."
April 2009: Dalia Mogahed, the first hijab-clad senior adviser to Obama on Muslim affairs, says in an interview with terrorist- and jihad-supporting Sheik Yusuf Qaradawi's website, "Many have claimed that terrorists have 'hijacked Islam.' I disagree. I think Islam is safe and thriving in the lives of Muslims around the world. What the terrorists have been allowed to take over are Muslim grievances."
April 2009: Obama lays groundwork for a partnership with Hamas.
May 2009: Obama promises to offer his "personal commitment" to Muslims.
May 2009: Obama calls America "one of the largest Muslim countries on the planet."
June 2009: Obama invites the Muslim Brotherhood, a violent global jihadist group whose sole objective is a universal caliphate, to his speech to the ummah (Muslim community) in Cairo.
June 2009: Obama makes a stunning speech to the Muslim world from Al Azhar University in Cairo. It defies explanation.
July 2009: Obama reaches out to the violent jihadists of Hezb'allah.
July 2009: Obama creates a new office at the State Department, Outreach to the Worldwide Muslim community, reporting directly to Hillary Clinton.
July 2009: The State Department Welcomes Hamas mouthpiece Al-Quds TV to D.C. to filmpPropaganda.
Obama promises to close GITMO.
Obama is rebuked when plans are revealed for CIA prosecutions for 911 interrogations: Seven Ex-chiefs of CIA Oppose Case Review: ALL Sign letter to Stop CIA Persecutions.
In July 2009, Obama sanctions the brutal crackdown of those marching for freedom in Iran and sides with the mullahcracy. He stands silent about the Iranian regime's mass executions, mass rape, and murder.
July 2009: Obama plans to slash the U.S. nuclear arsenal.
September 2009: Former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton on Obama at the U.N.: "This is the most radical anti-Israel speech I can recall any president making...I have to say I was very shaken by this speech."
October 2009: Obama offers millions in Muslim technology fund.
November 2009, Fort Hood Jihad Coverup: Obama Urges Congress To Put Off Fort Hood Probe, Warns Against Turning Tragedy Into "Political Theater"
November 2009: Obama offers the Taliban control of the Kandahar, Helmand, Oruzgan, Kunar, and Nuristan provinces, in return for a halt to the Taliban missile attacks on U.S. bases.
November 2009: Obama reaches out to bloodthirsty jihadis in the Philippines.
On Thanksgiving eve, Obama issues a special Hajj message to the world's Muslims.
December 2009: Obama's "Non-Religious" White House Christmas and No Christmas Gifts for his Kids.
February 2010: Obama names a Hafiz to the Organization of the Islamic Conference. "And as a hafiz of the Koran, [Hussain] is a respected member of the American Muslim community," Obama said in his message to the Doha meeting, using the Arabic world for someone who has memorized the Islamic holy book.
February 2010: Obama cuts U.S. space program, orders NASA to work with Muslim countries
February 2010: Covering up for jihadists in the White House.
Obama's counterterrorism adviser, John Brennan, Involved in Obama Passport Breach
March 2010: Obama Obsession with Islam: Calls "entrepreneurship summit" with Muslims.
April 2010: Libyan President Gaddafi Praises Obama: "Barakeh Obama is friend"; "He is of Muslim descent, his policy should be supported..."
May 2010: Obama's Counterterrorism Adviser Calls Jihad "Legitimate Tenet of Islam."
May 2010: White House Pro-Terrorism John Brennan Speechifies in Arabic, Equates Terrorists with Shoplifters, Lawmakers Call for his Firing.
June 2010: Obama equivocates on the jihad warship convoy (affectionately named a "flotilla" by the media): Obama "Expressed a Deep Regret Over Loss of [Jihadist] Life"
June 2010: Obama administration to Support Anti-Israel Resolution at U.N.
And earlier this week, Obama became the first president to host a press conference with the American flag nowhere in sight.
Ouch. What a disgrace.
Now: will the lapdog media make Obama address Gheit's claim?

Just more blame and vilification

This president never ceases to amaze me in his abilities to point fingers, lay blame and then vilify the object of his ranting. He has done it to the banking industry, the insurance industry, the automobile industry, the health care industry and now he's doing it to BP and before long it will be the entire oil industry and likely the coal and natural gas industries as well.
No action, only rhetoric. This man is an embarrassment to the office of president.

WASHINGTON, June 15 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama's war effort in Afghanistan appears to be heading in the wrong direction and possibly toward a crisis, a top Republican who backed Obama's troop buildup said on Tuesday.
Senator John McCain, who ran against Obama in the 2008 presidential election, voiced concern about slower-than-expected progress in southern Afghanistan and doubts about Afghan President Hamid Karzai's commitment.
"I am deeply concerned about our campaign in Afghanistan. Many of the key trends seem to be heading in a bad direction, perhaps even signaling a mounting crisis," McCain said at a Senate hearing, where top Pentagon officials defended the Afghan strategy.

According to Public Policy Polling of Louisiana voters, George W. Bush did a better job after Hurricane Katrina than Barrack Obama is doing with the BP spill. How ya like them numbers?

The Dumbing Down Of America

Thomas Sowell has a column today on Jewish World Review that talks about the artifical stupidity of Americans these days. He notes a story that I use often when talking about the dumbing down of American youth; the story of dihydrogenmonoxide. Anyone who has taken a high school chemistry class and can read the name, should be able to decipher that the correct notation for that chemical is H2O, more commonly referred to in the English language as Water.
I think it's pretty funny how many people, in the right setting, would believe that this chemical is dangerous and should be regulated by some government agency, before it kills us all.
The implications of not being able to decipher the name of the chemical, however, are not funny at all.

Congressman Ethreidge attacks kid with camera

“It’s not Rep. Etheridge’s fault for assaulting a kid. It’s Andrew Breitbart’s fault for having a website.”

Homeland Security Unprepared

It seems that it's a problem, all throughout the administration, that no one is prepared for a crisis when it happens. The Gulf of Mexico is still being saturated with oil and the administration is still trying to figure out what to do, the economy is still languishing and the administration is trying to figure out how to print enough money for something to turn around, and now we find that Justice and Homeland Security are ill prepared for a major attack:

"The most important overlooked story of the past few weeks was overlooked because it was not surprising. Also because no one really wants to notice it. ... I speak of the report from the inspector general of the Justice Department, issued in late May, saying the department is not prepared to ensure public safety in the days or weeks after a terrorist attack in which nuclear, biological or chemical weapons are used. The Department of Homeland Security is designated as first federal responder, in a way, in the event of a WMD attack, but every agency in government has a formal, assigned role, and the crucial job of Justice is to manage and coordinate law enforcement and step in if state and local authorities are overwhelmed. So how would Justice do, almost nine years after the attacks of 9/11? Poorly. 'The Department is not prepared to fulfill its role ... to ensure public safety and security in the event of a WMD incident,' says the 61-page report. Justice has yet to assign an entity or individual with clear responsibility for oversight or management of WMD response; it has not catalogued its resources in terms of either personnel or equipment; it does not have written plans or checklists in case of a WMD attack. A deputy assistant attorney general for policy and planning is quoted as saying 'it is not clear' who in the department is responsible for handling WMD response. Workers interviewed said the department's operational response program 'lacks leadership and oversight.' An unidentified Justice Department official was quoted: 'We are totally unprepared.' He added. 'Right now, being totally effective would never happen. Everybody would be winging it.' The inspector general's staff interviewed 36 senior officials involved in the department's emergency response planning and summarized the finding: 'It was clear that no person or entity is managing the overall Department's response activities.' You could almost see them scratching their heads and saying, 'No one's in charge here.' ... We may be witnessing again a failure of imagination, the famous phrase used after 9/11 to capture why the U.S. government was caught so flatfooted and was so stunned that such a terrible thing could occur. They neglected to think of the worst thing that could happen, and so of course they did not plan for it. If agencies within the government now are having a second failure of imagination, it is not forgivable. We're not being asked to imagine a place we've never been, after all, we're only being asked to imagine where we've been, and how it could be worse, and plan for it." --columnist Peggy Noonan

It's as bad as 9-11

Yesterday the President told reporters that the oil spill was as bad as 9-11. He then promptly went golfing for 4 hours.
Fortunately, there are no truly pressing matters of state to which the President must attend. No nuclear terror states of note. No environmental disasters unfolding. No economic worries to speak of. No impending entitlement catastrophes.

Obama Admin Turned Down Help On Oil Spill, Then Went Golfing

The Obama Administration is reported to have turned down both the Netherlands and Great Britain, who offered to help with the efforts in the Gulf of Mexico. Presumably, because they didn't have the right paperwork.
We need leadership, not political rhetoric and bureaucratic bull shit.

The Wolf is Watching the Hen House

As reported this morning in the New York Times, the Federal gov't is on a quest to "reinvent journalism". The Feds feel that "journalism" as we know it is dying. Not sure if they mean journalism or print media, but it wouldn't be the first time the government has tried to control what is said in the media.
"Through a series of public forums, the last of which will take place in Washington on Tuesday, the commission has been gathering and analyzing an array of suggestions to help make the business of gathering and reporting news profitable again. A broad range of ideas — loosening antitrust statutes to allow news organizations to start charging for online content all at once; imposing a tax on iPads and other electronic devices to subsidize the cost of reporting; creating a public fund akin to AmeriCorps to pay young journalists — have been suggested. "
If that last line doesn't make you angry, then you aren't paying attention. The government wants to set up a public fund to pay reporters. The White House will then have it's very own propaganda arm and will no longer need to rely on it's shills in the current main stream media. Of course, the NYT didn't draw that conclusion.

Euro poised to sink to parity with Dollar in 2011, if either still exist

"The euro is set to sink to parity with the dollar in 2011 because of the slow pace of economic recovery in Europe, if it has not broken up by then, a consultancy predicted Friday."
The Euro has been in a freefall for the last 4 months against the Dollar, from a high of 1.48:1 in January to now around 1.2:1, a loss of nearly 20%. With Greece in position to default on it's debt by end of summer, the Euro will sink to parity or even lower within the same amount of time. This spells the end of the Euro as a world currency. There have been rumblings and some reports even that Germany is planning to revert to the Duetch Mark and France back to the Franc, and in fairly short order.

The Austrians Were Right!

"The Austrians were right" is a phrase we hear often now, and for good reason. The housing bubble and bust were called by the Austrians and, essentially, no one else. The Austrians were right about the dot-com bubble and bust. The Austrians were right about the 1970s stagflation and explosion in the price of gold after the gold window was closed.
You can tick through the issues and see that the Austrians have been right again and again throughout history: on price controls, on protectionism, on bailouts, on wars, on regulation, on prohibitions and civil liberties, and so on.
But issues concerning fiat money and the business cycle stand out because the Austrians possess unique insight. Only the Austrians have consistently warned that fiat money creates the wrong incentives for the banking industry, that central-bank manipulation of interest rates distorts the structure of production, that the combination of paper money and central banking leads to economic calamity.

"Twisted Taliban militants took terror to a new low by accusing a 7-year-old boy of spying - and hanging him high. We need a leader not a politician

In what may be one of the most accurate vivisections on Barrack Obama's leadership style, Mitt Romney, former Governor of Massachusetts (whom I think should be a sportscaster or car salesman) lays it all out there for the world to see. From Obama's "blame and attack" style of government takeover of private industry, to his absolute lack of leadership, Romney affords him no quarter.

"Has it come to this again? The president is meeting with his oil spill experts, he crudely tells us, so that he knows "whose ass to kick." We have become accustomed to his management style — target a scapegoat, assign blame and go on the attack. To win health care legislation, he vilified insurance executives; to escape bankruptcy law for General Motors, he demonized senior lenders; to take the focus from the excesses of government, he castigated business meetings in Las Vegas; and to deflect responsibility for the deepening and lengthening downturn, he blames Wall Street and George W. Bush. But what may make good politics does not make good leadership. And when a crisis is upon us, America wants a leader, not a politician."

Americas fastest growing crop of millionaires, and they all work for the goverment!

It is said that government workers now make, on average, 30% more than private sector workers. Put that fantasy aside. It far underestimates the real figures. By my calculations, government workers make more than twice as much. Government workers are America's fastest-growing millionaires.

Doubt it? Then ask yourself: What is the net present value of an $80,000 annual pension payout with additional full health benefits? Working backward, the total NPV would depend on expected returns of a basket of safe investments--blue chip stocks, dividends and U.S. Treasury bonds.

» How Obama Reduced Crime Rates Last Year - Big Government
President Obama surely didn’t intend it, but he deserves some credit for last year’s 7.4 percent drop in murder rates. His election caused gun sales to soar, and crime rates to plummet.
While gun sales started notably rising in October 2008, sales really soared immediately after Mr. Obama won the presidential race. 450,000 more people bought guns in November 2008 than bought them in November 2007, that’s over a 40 percent increase in sales. By comparison, the change from November 2006 to November 2007 was only about 35,000. Over the last decade, the average year-to-year increase in monthly sales was only 21,000.

Gun Owners Are Now On Notice

"Gun owners might not feel besieged right now, but they should be very concerned. [Recently] the Obama administration announced its support for the UN Small Arms Treaty. This treaty poses real risks for freedom and safety in the United States as well as the rest of the world. According to the U.N., guns used in armed conflicts cause 300,000 deaths worldwide every year. Their proposed solution is a simple one. Keep rebels from getting guns by requiring that countries 'prevent, combat and eradicate' what those countries define as 'the illicit trade in small arms.' The UN's solution isn't too surprising when one looks at the long list of notorious totalitarian regimes, such as Syria, Cuba, Rwanda, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, and Sierra Leone, which support these 'reforms.' But not all insurgencies are 'bad.' To ban providing guns to rebels in totalitarian countries is like arguing that there is never anything such as a just war. ... Political scientist Rudy Rummel estimates that 262 million people were murdered by their own government during the last century -- that is 2.6 million per year. This includes genocide, the murder of people for political reasons, and mass murder. Even if all 300,000 deaths from armed conflicts can be blamed on the small arms trade, an obviously false claim, people have much more to worry about from their governments. ... The Small Arms Treaty is just a back door way for the Obama administration trying to force through gun control regulations. With the huge standing ovation that House and Senate Democrats recently gave Mexican President Calderon for his advocacy of a new so-called 'Assault Weapons Ban,' Americans who care about self-defense have been put on notice." --economist John Lott

Investigation reveals possible criminal activity connecting Obama to BP oil spill

Hey Spike, When you gonna call out Obama?

Here’s a question: I wonder when Spike Lee is going to make a film about the oil spill like the one he did about Katrina, with the underlying theme being that New Orleans was abandoned by the essentially racist federal government led by President Bush. I also wonder when we’ll hear from Kanye West, who raged on national television that “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”
The oil spill is destroying the exact same areas in the Gulf region. Hey, Spike: Does Obama’s lethargic and passionless response to the oil disaster make him a racist? Hey, Kanye: Does Obama’s lack of any kind of coordinated and effective federal response make him a hater of black people?

The Right To Discriminate

I was listening to the radio the other day and Walter E. Williams was sitting in for Rush Limbaugh. This is more or less verbatem of his opening monolog.

Rand Paul of Kentucky, U.S. Senate hopeful, is caught up in a swirl of controversy in response to his comments on MSNBC’s "Rachel Maddow Show." He has been dishonestly accused of saying he thinks that private businesses have a right to discriminate against black people. Here’s a partial transcript of the pertinent question in the interview:
Maddow: "Do you think that a private business has a right to say, 'We don’t serve black people'?" To which Paul answered, "I’m not, I’m not, I’m not in … yeah … I’m not in favor of any discrimination of any form."
The "yeah" was spun in the media as "yes" to the question whether private businesses had a right to refuse service to black people. Paul had told Maddow that while he supported the 1964 Civil Rights Act in general, he thought that provisions banning private discrimination might have gone too far.
Democrats launched an attack on Paul accusing him of being a racist. Republicans criticized and in the words of Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, Paul’s "philosophy is misplaced in these times." He added that Paul has a libertarian perspective and "(has) a very, very strong view about the limitation of government intrusion into the private sector."
Should people have the right to discriminate by race, sex, religion and other attributes? In a free society, I say yes. Let’s look at it. When I was selecting a marriage partner, I systematically discriminated against white women, Asian women and women of other ethnicities that I found less preferable. The Nation of Islam discriminates against white members. The Aryan Brotherhood discriminates against having black members. The Ku Klux Klan discriminates against having Catholic and Jewish members. The NFL discriminates against hiring female quarterbacks. The NAACP National Board of Directors, at least according to the photo on their Web page, has no white members.
You say, Williams, that’s different. It’s not like public transportation, restaurants and hotel service in which Title II of the 1964 Civil Rights Act "prohibits discrimination because of race, color, religion, or national origin in certain places of public accommodation, such as hotels, restaurants, and places of entertainment." While there are many places that serve the public, it doesn’t change the fact that they are privately owned, and who is admitted, under what conditions, should be up to the owner.
If places of public accommodation were free to racially discriminate, how much racial discrimination would there be? In answering that question, we should acknowledge that just because a person is free to do something, it doesn’t follow that he will find it in his interest to do so. An interesting example is found in an article by Dr. Jennifer Roback titled "The Political Economy of Segregation: The Case of Segregated Streetcars," in Journal of Economic History (1986). During the late 1800s, private streetcar companies in Augusta, Houston, Jacksonville, Mobile, Montgomery and Memphis were not segregated, but by the early 1900s, they were. Why? City ordinances forced them to segregate black and white passengers. Numerous Jim Crow laws ruled the day throughout the South mandating segregation in public accommodations.
When one sees a law on the books, he should suspect that the law is there because not everyone would voluntarily comply with the law’s specifications. Extra-legal measures, that included violence, backed up Jim Crow laws. When white solidarity is confronted by the specter of higher profits by serving blacks, it’s likely that profits will win. Thus, Title II of the 1964 Civil Rights represented government countering government-backed Jim Crow laws.
One does not have to be a racist to recognize that the federal government has no constitutional authority to prohibit racial or any other kind of discrimination by private parties. Moreover, the true test of one’s commitment to freedom of association doesn’t come when he permits people to associate in ways he deems appropriate. It comes when he permits people to voluntarily associate in ways he deems offensive.

Euro on the verge of implosion?

This is not the Currency of A Stable Economy

Gate Crashers

"If you had tickets to a sports event, concert, Disneyland, or for an airline flight, and when you got to your assigned seat you found someone else was in that seat, what would you do? You would call for a person in charge of ticket checking and have the person in your seat removed. You would properly be asked to show your ticket, and you would gladly and proudly do so, for you have bought and paid for that seat. The person in your seat would also be asked for a ticket, which they would not be able to produce. They would be called "gate crashers" and they would properly be removed.
Now in this huge stadium called the USA we have had millions of gate crashers. We have been asking security to check for tickets and remove the gate crashers. We have been asking security to have better controls in checking at the door. We have asked security to lock the back doors. Security has failed us. They are still looking the other way. They are afraid to ask to see the tickets. Many people say there is unlimited seating, and whether there is or not, no one should be allowed in for free while the rest of us pay full price!
In "section AZ", of "Stadium USA", we have had enough of the failures of Security. We have decided to do our own ticket checking, and properly remove those who do not have tickets. Now it seems very strange to me that so many people in the other 49 "sections", and even many in our own "section" do not want tickets checked, or even to be asked to show their ticket! Even the head of Security is chastising us, while not doing his own job which he has sworn to do.
My own ticket has been bought and paid for, so I am proudly going to show it when asked to do so. I have a right to my seat, and I want the gate crashers to be asked to show their tickets too. The only reason that I can imagine anyone objecting to being asked for their ticket is that they are in favor of gate crashing, and all of the illegal activities that go with it, such as drug smuggling, gang wars, murder, human smuggling for profit, and many more illegal and inhumane acts that we are trying to prevent with our new legislation. Is that what I am hearing from all of the protestors such as Phoenix Mayor Gordon, US Rep. Grijalva, even President Obama? If you are not in favor of showing tickets, (proof of citizenship, passport, green card, or other legal document) when asked, as I would do proudly, then you must be condoning those illegal activities."
