The Welfare State Meets Mathematics

The Welfare State Meets Mathematics
From one of my new favorite blogs- Whiskey and Gunpowder-
"The simple matter is that many nations have been living beyond their means and investors are beginning to doubt governments are good credit risks. That’s saying something, when governments can simply confiscate from the public the money needed to pay bond holders. But debt-to-GDP levels are now so high across the Western world that bond investors (and ratings agencies) are having serious doubts."

If you think the Arizona law is intrusive....

Democrats, who are up in arms over the apparent infringement of civil rights by Arizona's new anti-illegal immigration enforcement law, are calling for a new National ID Card. This new ID card would be complete with some sort of bio-metric information stored on an RFID chip in the card. Every "worker" in the country would be required to posess such a card and every employer would have to install equipment to read both the card and the corresponding bio-info from the "worker", i.e. a finger print or iris scanner.
Talk about a violation of Rights! This would put the Federal Government in charge of who is allowed to work and who isn't, you would likely have to have permission from them to take a day off. Does this not put the Federal Government in charge of the labor pool for all industry, public and private? This would put an undue burden on all employers by forcing them to install expensive scanning equipment. Can you imagine the beauracracy that will be created to manage the data base? What else will they do with the information? Will it be tracked with your medical records? What about privacy now?
Welcome to 1984.....or is it Revelation?

Is Obama fomenting a race war?

KUHNER: Is Obama fomenting a race war? - Washington Times
"In recent memory, no president has so deliberately and publicly sought to pit racial and gender groups against each other. The president is not simply the titular head of a party or the leader of government. He is the head of state and embodies the collective will of the American people. He is the president of all Americans - not just certain segments of his electoral coalition. Mr. Obama's rhetoric is reckless. It is fostering civil strife and racial animosity"

Obama's Katrina

Obama threatened by heckuva glob - Washington Times
"Failure to get control of the relief effort and contain the environmental challenge could pose the same kind of political threat to Mr. Obama's popular standing that the much-criticized handling of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina did for former President George W. Bush. And unlike Katrina, it is likely the federal government will be the clear lead authority in dealing with the BP spill."
No one has talked about it much, but not long ago President Obama said that "oil rigs todaygenerally don't cause spills" . In an uncharacteristic move, our President opened up several areas offshore for oil exploration, much to the chagrin of his "green" supporters. Now with the crisis in the Gulf of Mexico and oil flowing towards the gulf coast, the President has reversed his position and put exploration on hold.
Let's play a little game, the same way lefty conspiracy types do. Could it be that the oil rig explosion was an act of sabotage? If you do not want oil exploration offshore, and you have to satisfy a "green" agenda in order to pacify your supporters, and you want your detractors to feel like they are gaining ground; how about you do this:
1. Approve offshore exploration- this makes the typical right leaning person happy (although I thought it was very odd and out of character at the time)
2. Have an explosive planted in a high production oil platform and cause a huge environmental "Crisis".
3. "Never let a crisis go to waste" and reverse your stance on offshore drilling, that you didn't want in the first place.
4. Create an environmental rallying cry against the oil industry, push for immediate action on the "green energy" front where millions of dollars will be funneled away to folks like Van Jones, the communist, ex-con, former Green Energy Czar, who thinks we should redistribute our wealth to native americans and inner-city poor just because those that have created their own wealth don't deserve to keep it.

Just a thought.

Even more interesting, if this were an accident and not an act of sabotage, why would Mr. Obama be sending SWAT teams to oil rigs?

Obama Drops Immigration From Agenda

Obama takes immigration reform off agenda - Yahoo! News
"Immigration reform was an issue Obama promised Latino groups that he would take up in his first year in office. But several hard realities — a tanked economy, a crowded agenda, election-year politics and lack of political will — led to so much foot-dragging in Congress that, ultimately, Obama decided to set the issue aside.
With that move, the president calculated that an immigration bill would not prove as costly to his party two years from now, when he seeks re-election, than it would today, even though some immigration reformers warned that a delay could so discourage Democratic-leaning Latino voters that they would stay home from the polls in November."
It could also be that immigration issues across the country are currently causing so much turmoil that he feels it would be too dangerous politically and could potentially become violent. If the Federal government would just enforce the law of the land, we wouldn't have these problems in the first place. Remember Eisenhower's "Operation Wetback"?
In 1949 the Border Patrol seized nearly 280,000 illegal immigrants. By 1953, the numbers had grown to more than 865,000, and the U.S. government felt pressured to do something about the onslaught of immigration. What resulted was Operation Wetback, devised in 1954 under the supervision of new commissioner of the Immigration and Nationalization Service, Gen. Joseph Swing.
Swing oversaw the Border patrol, and organized state and local officials along with the police. The object of his intense border enforcement were "illegal aliens," but common practice of Operation Wetback focused on Mexicans in general. The police swarmed through Mexican American barrios throughout the southeastern states. Some Mexicans, fearful of the potential violence of this militarization, fled back south across the border. In 1954, the agents discovered over 1 million illegal immigrants.
In some cases, illegal immigrants were deported along with their American-born children, who were by law U.S. citizens. The agents used a wide brush in their criteria for interrogating potential aliens. They adopted the practice of stopping "Mexican-looking" citizens on the street and asking for identification.
This may be a little extreme as far as profiling goes, but, this also came only 7 years after WWII and invaisions were treated a little differently than they are today. They were actually defended against.

Immigrants, yes! Illegal immigrants, not so much. Quit the race baiting BS. Illegal is not a Race. Try to enter any other country in the world illegally and see what happens. Most countries will arrest and deport you at minimum, some will imprison you and some will even execute you.
We have the most lax immigration enforcement in the world. We are spending money on social programs and education for illegals and those systems are stretched beyond their means. We have lost our sovereignty and the liberals don't think we go far enough to protect the poor, down trodden immigrants. They ignore the fact that by definition if you are in this country illegally, you are a felon.

Arizona immigrant law animates Hispanics, Democrats | Reuters

Arizona immigrant law animates Hispanics, Democrats Reuters
If we do not stand up and fight, we may as well close down th government, open the borders and stop being a soveriegn country. If these people get out into the streets and protest, they are basically saying "I am here illegally and I don't care anything about your laws"- this basically makes them foreign invaders, as far as I am concerned.
They should be arrested, deported and not allowed back into the country unless they can do it legally. One young hispanic man was documented on film saying that they ( I assume illegals ) would "Kill Americans with pick axes" Assuming that the illegal aliens start any sort of violence against sovereign Americans, I fear the wrath that will befall them. Saddle up.

Spain downgraded, Europe debt crisis widens - Yahoo! Finance
Don't want to say I told you so, but I told you so.
"Spain is considered the key to whether Europe's debt crisis can be resolved -- its economy is much larger than that of Greece and Portugal and -- many in the markets postulate -- may be just too big to bail out if it gets into serious trouble."
Who will be next? As I mentioned in an earlier post about unfunded liabilities in the European Union, some like Greece as high as 894% of GDP, it's just a matter of time before the economic crisis engulfs all of Europe. The National Center for Policy Research has this to say about eliminating the national deficit as am means of survival as a country when comparing the European Debt Crisis to US Debt and Deficit spending:

-The United States would need to save and invest an amount equal to 8.2 percent of its GDP beginning now and continuing every year forever to pay expected future benefits without future tax increases.
- This could be accomplished by more than doubling the current 15.3 percent payroll tax on employers and employees, immediately and forever.
- Alternatively, the federal government could immediately stop spending nearly four out of every five dollars on programs other than Social Security and Medicare — eliminating most discretionary spend- ing on such programs as education, national defense, environmental protection and welfare — forever.

Each year that the United States does not take action to reduce the projected shortfall, it grows by more than $1.5 trillion, after adjusting for inflation.

I don't know about you but this sort of hits me between the eyes with a big ole Reality Bat.

FBI agent short on details on militia inquiry

You would think that an FBI agent who has worked for 2 years on making a case against 9 "militia" members, who allegedly sought to "wage war" on the government would be able to remember a few details about the investigation. This case stinks to high heaven of the government trying to silence dissent. I doubt there was even an investigation on going.

Europe debt crisis spreads to Portugal - Yahoo! Finance
The Dow is down 200 points, the dollar is tanking and Gold is off to the races. Greece's status has been reduced to JUNK. As the financial meltdown of Europe continues by spreading to Portugal and Spain the Euro will plummet against all world currencies. Not surprisingly, the dollar will fall along with it due to heavy investment in US Bonds by the European Union.
If you weren't already invested in hard currencies, your chance may be running out.

Dumping American Citizenship and Embracing Liberty Abroad

During the last administration, Republicans would often tell complaining Democrats "if you don't like America, then maybe you should leave". None of them did leave but they all made quite a ruckus about being citizens here, too and that they didn't have to go anywhere and that they would one day be in power and they were going to changes things. Boy, that was an understatement. It seems that now, those with the means to do so are taking their own advice and leaving the USA for a better chance at personal liberty and freedom somewhere else.
I toy with the thought of packing my bags, learning a new language and setting up shop in Central or South America, or even the South Pacific - like New Zealand (if they'd let me in). The only reason this isn't a appealing option for me is the thought of making myself a willing voluntary refugee. Not really my style. So, here are the choices: Pack up and leave and let what was once the greatest beacon of freedom and liberty in the world collapse under it's own weight, or stay and fight the good fight in the hopes that sanity can be restored to our fiscal policies and the course of self destruction can be reversed.

Just look at the deficit and tell me how this is sustainable?

From Mises.org/Market Data I would reccomend a look at it for a true insight on the situation with the US economy.

DEMOCRATS HID DAMNING HEALTH CARE REPORT FROM PUBLIC UNTIL A MONTH AFTER VOTE

via Gateway Pundit
More hope and change–A damning health care report generated by actuaries at the Health and Human Services (HHS) Department was given to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius more than a week before the health care vote. She hid the report from the public until a month after democrats rammed their nationalized health care bill through Congress.
The results from the report were troubling. The report released by Medicare and Medicaid actuaries shows that medical costs will skyrocket rising $389 billion 10 years. 14 million will lose their employer-based coverage. Millions of Americans will be left without insurance. And, millions more may be dumped into the already overwhelmed Medicaid system. 4 million American families will be hit with tax penalties under this new law.
Of course, these were ALL things that President Obama and Democratic leaders assured us would not happen.

EDITORIAL: Government Motors repayment fraud - Washington Times

EDITORIAL: Government Motors repayment fraud - Washington Times
Despite misleadingly rosy propaganda fed to the press, the sad saga of General Motors' transformation into Government Motors continues. As a ward of the state, GM has to do the bidding of its Washington masters and stay in lock step with the Democrats' claims about the company's condition. The truth is that GM's condition remains poor.
The only reason the company has been able to pay off its government loan is because the Obama administration has given GM more money than it has been able to spend. Hence, proceeds from one loan are sitting around to be used to pay down another loan. That's hardly evidence that GM has been a good investment. To the contrary, the shell game makes clear that the Obama administration is wasting billions of taxpayer dollars on a carmaker that is careening toward a cliff.

Major New EPA Rules Go Into Effect April 22nd, 2010 REI Mentor
In another major intrusion into my life, the EPA has decided that if you don't play by their rules in doing homeowner repairs to your own home you could face a fine. New rules went into effect on April 22 and to best summerize: "According to EPA sources fines for not following the new law could be as steep as $3,500.00 per occurrence. That means if a homeowner replaces 10 windows in a home incorrectly, he could end up with a $35,000 fine."
Obviously, with the "Cash For Caulkers" energy tax rebates available, any homeowner who replaced windows in his or her home and claimed them on their tax return could now come under scrutiny of the EPA. And the homeowner gave them all the info they need to prosecute.

New Beareaucracy Created By ObamaCare

Not including the 16,500 new IRS agents with their short barelled Remington 870 shot guns, the ObamaCare Steaming Turd has created 159 new government agencies. One piece of legislation has created 159 completely new agencies. Think about that for a moment. This is the largest single increase in the size of government in history. It dwarfs FDR's New Deal by 119 additional agencies. Many of FDR's new agencies and policies were found to be Unconstitutional and were subsequently struck down by the Supreme Court, as I suspect will, or at least should, be the case with several parts of Obama's health care fiasco.

Governments Will 'Bankrupt Us': Marc Faber - CNBC
Faber reccomends physical gold and silver. No shit, Captain Obvious.
Since the Federal Reserve admits that the dollar has lost 97% of it's value since 1913, and the official price of silver in 1913 was $1.29/oz, a quick extrapolation of the value of silver to dollars today should put the current price adjusted for inflation at about $43/oz . This is just adjusting for inflation. Now take into account that hyperinflation is just around the corner with the printing of more currency, the possibilities are astronomical.
Going back to the Coinage Act of 1792 which officially set the value of the dollar to 371.25 grains of silver, (437.5 grains per ounce) or roughly $1.20 per ounce for silver, you can see that the dollar was quite stable prior to the introduction of the Federal Reserve banking system.
In 1792, 1 ounce of gold was valued at $17.68 (a $10 Eagle was 247.5 grains) and when Roosevelt confiscated all privately owned gold in 1933, gold was valued at $20.67/oz, again demonstrating the stability of gold backed currency.
Today, gold is at $1145/oz and silver is at $18/oz. The historic ratio should be 16:1. Today the ratio is 63:1. This would put today's price of silver at $71/oz using the historic gold to silver ratio and the factor of inflation. I'm no genius when it comes to seeing market manipulation, but obviously, there is something rotten in Denmark.

RAHN: Could the U.S. become Argentina? - Washington Times
A century ago, if you had told typical citizens of Argentina (which at that time was enjoying the fourth-highest per capita income in the world) that it would decline to become just the 76th richest nation on a per capita basis in 2010, they probably would not have found it believable. They might have responded, "This could not happen; we are a nation rich in natural resources, with a great climate for agriculture. Our people are well educated and largely descended from European stock. We have property rights, the rule of law and an open free-market economy."

The parrallels drawn by Rahn between the USA and Argentina on economics and inflationary policies are right on target. It looks like current policy in America is following right after those of Argentina in the early part of the 20th century. Those who do not study history are destined to make the same mistakes.

I couldn't get a concealed carry permit but the thugs that robbed me were carrying concealed handguns. It's a dangerous city where after Hurrricane Katrina, the Democratically controlled local and state government confiscated all of the firearms they could get their hands on in the name of security, against the protection of the citizenry's right to keep and bear arms protected by the Constitution, I might add.
I wonder how this unfortunate attack on two young Republicans might have differed if they had been armed? I doubt either would have broken bones, and their attackers might not be alive.

Drunken Sailor Takes Offense

Common Sense on Immigration

Common sense tells us that every nation has the right to secure its borders. Mexico, for example, does so quite aggressively. Mass migrations are nothing new. In previous eras, they were generally conducted all at once, with brightly-colored banners fluttering proudly overhead. The receiving country would send a few thousand lads to meet the new occupants at the border, carrying banners of their own, and a lively exchange of cutlery would ensue. Territorial integrity is a serious concern for any nation. Even the most restrained and minimal government requires its citizens to accept the social contract, and recognize its authority. It’s no coincidence that waves of illegal immigration raise a dusty cloud of general lawlessness in their wake.

The Food and Drug Administration is planning an unprecedented effort to gradually reduce the salt consumed each day by Americans, saying that less sodium in everything from soup to nuts would prevent thousands of deaths from hypertension and heart disease. The initiative, to be launched this year, would eventually lead to the first legal limits on the amount of salt allowed in food products.

The Other 95%

Writing on January 15, 2010, Glenn Greenwald at Salon noted Barack Obama’s new head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, Cass Sunstein, had championed creating fake websites and using outside 501(c)(3) interest groups to act as alleged independent champions of government policy and to “cognitively infiltrate” opposition websites, etc...Sunstein advocates that the Government’s stealth infiltration should be accomplished by sending covert agents into “chat rooms, online social networks, or even real-space groups.” He also proposes that the Government make secret payments to so-called “independent” credible voices to bolster the Government’s messaging

There was a woman following the "Obama Admin AstroTurf" "the other 95%" three poled headless snake of a sign with her own poster that read "Tax The Rich". I wonder if she, or anyone else in the administration realize that you could tax the rich at 100% of their income for the next 10 years and not even pay off the interest on the National Debt. By the way, all of the pictures from the AstroTurf were from the Tax Day Tea Party. Funny how a White House propaganda machine was out in full force posing as their own grass roots organization. We need to expose this crap for what it is, every chance we get.

Looks like after examining the details, most of the items in the Health Care Act on pre-existing conditions, lifetime caps, adopted children etc.... were already on the books in other laws. So what did this new law do again? Looks like the primary answer is "seperate you from your wealth" and not much else.

A few of the new taxes, etc under the new Obamacare Act

• There is a new tax on home sales of 3.8%. This will hit middle-income people who are "'rich' for only one day" as they sell a house and buy a new one.
• There are $15.2 billion in new taxes on the middle class as DemCare severely restricts the medical expense deduction, which is widely used by families who have a serious illness or are elderly.
• According to Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA), there is a huge new loophole in the bill as nothing prevents health care companies from raising rates by any amount.
• The bill will lead to a dramatic shortage of doctors -- around 150,000 doctors almost immediately -- because the pool of newly insured welfare DemCare recipients has expanded so dramatically.

More of same. President Obama tells 15,000 NASA workers that if they vote for him, he'll protect their jobs. Then he slashes NASA. Now he gives the "We're going to Mars, Kennedy rehash speech" and not a single NASA employee is in attendance- At the Kennedy Space Center!

From the transcript of the MSNBC story:
BARBREE: But I'm a little disturbed right now, Alex. I just found out some very disturbing news. The President came down here in his campaign and told these 15,000 workers here at the Space Center that if they would vote for him, that he would protect their jobs. 9,000 of them are about to lose their job. He is speaking before 200, extra hundred people here today only. It's invitation only. He has not invited a single space worker from this space port to attend. It's only academics and other high officials from outside of the country. Not one of them is invited to hear the President of the United States, on their own space port, speak today. Back to you Alex.

Western Governments are all doomed

Take a look at last year's report on unfunded liabilities in the European Union. The typical Euro state needs at least 4 1/2 times their annual GDP to maintain their current obligations. Spain is at the low end with slightly less than 2 1/2 times GDP. So how far behind in the "unsustainability race" do you think the USA is?
This is impossible to maintain anywhere in the world and all of these governments will collapse under the weight of social programming.

A Letter to the American People

Pajamas Media » A Letter to the American People
Jon Voight
A LETTER TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE
April 10, 2010
In one year the American people are witnessing the greatest lie that is cleverly orchestrated by President Obama and his whole administration. The lie is a potent aggression that feeds the needs of people who either have not educated themselves enough to understand the assault upon us all, or the very poor and needy who live to be taken care of. President Obama feeds these people poison, giving them the idea that they are entitled to take from the wealthier, who have lived and worked in a democracy that understands that capitalism is the only truth that keeps a nation healthy and fed.
Now, the lie goes very deep, and President Obama has been cleverly trained in the Alinsky method, and it would be very important that every American knows what that method is. It is a socialistic, Marxist teaching, and with it, little by little, he rapes this nation, taking down our defenses, making new language for the Islamic extremists.
The world who looked up to us, as a symbol of hope and prosperity, now wonders …“What will become of the entire world if America is losing its power?”
The American people who understand exactly what is taking place have come together in the thousands, vowing to try to stay together as a unit of love and freedom, for all men and women, from all walks of life, shivering to think that this once great nation will be a third world country.
This will be the first president to ever weaken the United States of America. President Obama uses his aggression and arrogance for his own agenda against the will of the American people, when he should be using his will and aggression against our enemies. Every loving American for peace, and truth, and the security of our nation, must come out and join the tea parties in their states. The opposition will continue their tactics: they will lie and plant their own bullies amongst us. Everyone must pay close attention to who stands next to them. We can weed out the liars and agitators.
Let us all stay in God’s light.
Let no man put us under.
We can and we will prevail.
God bless us all!

U.S. Faces Shortage of Doctors - WSJ.com
This doesn't even address the issue of doctors leaving the profession due to new restrictions on their income. By restrictions, I mean the increase in number of patients they will have to treat with the government being responsible for payment. As it is, doctors lose money every time they treat a Medicare patient due to the restrictions the government places on pricing. Recent polls of practicing doctors show that as many as 40% of current physicians will leave the profession.
The doctor shortage is about to hit in a big way.

Krugman Strikes Again

Krugman Strikes Again by Peter Schiff Interesting article-

But here's my take on it:
I don't agree that we need "deflation" as the article suggests, but rather a stable monetary policy. If we had our money backed by something stable, like gold and silver as our founders set forth in the "Coinage Act of 1792" these issues would not even be in discussion. Fiat currencies, such as the Dollar and Euro are backed by nothing other than the "good word" of the Central Bank, in our case The Federal Reserve Bank.
Prices in the USA remained very stable for much of the history of the Republic, up until the creation of the Federal Reserve Bank in 1913. Through the Fed's policies and the creation of money out of thin air we have seen inflation skyrocket and the value of the dollar fall by 97% since 1913.
The value of the Dollar was set at 371-4/16 grains of pure silver. Period. End of Story. Our currency was then set in value. If the fiat currencies of other nations rose and fell at the will of the Central Banks, the Dollar was stable. It would still purchase the same 371-4/16 grains of pure silver. Prices for goods and services remained at about the same level from the inception of the Republic until the Executive Order of FDR in 1933 that confiscated all privately held gold coins and bullion.
Gold had been $21 per ounce since the creation of the $20 gold piece, which contained just slightly less than one ounce of pure gold, again as defined in the Coinage Act. Once FDR confiscated and melted down all of the gold, which the government did buy at $21/oz, he raised the price to $35/oz, thus he devalued the currency (or created instant inflation) by 40%, decreasing the purchasing power of the people of the USA. Essentially the largest sing theft ever committed in the USA. Makes Bernie Madoff look like an amatuer. Inflation has been on a steady climb ever since. Soon we will be burning dollars in our fireplaces to stay warm. Think it can't happen here? That's what they thought in Germany too.
So at the end of the day Krugman, with his Cracker Jack Box Nobel Prize, is nothing more than a statist tool for the propaganda branch of the Federal Reserve Banking system.

A Simple Experiment to Disprove the Alleged Gold/Silver Price Suppression Schemes | zero hedge

A Simple Experiment to Disprove the Alleged Gold/Silver Price Suppression Schemes zero hedge

It should be a very simple experiment to disprove the price suppression theory. All you have to do is convert 10% of all of your gold and silver paper/ETF's etc... into physical gold that you take delivery of. Simple, just get everyone you know who is invested in gold and silver paper to do the same. If the physical gold and silver exists, there will be no problem. The issue at hand however is that the big bullion banks have been issuing paper and have created a fractional reserve system wherein they are not physically holding the gold and silver that the paper says they are.
Estimates are somewhere between 1 and 3% of all the paper that has been sold is actually backed by the metals that the paper guarantees.
When people finally get wise to this, there will be a run on the banks like no one could ever imagine. There is a metals bubble, but it's not going to burst, it's going to skyrocket. If you are currently in physical possession of precious metals, you will be the new wealthy class.

Welcome Comrades

Sounds like the Alinsky-ites are at it again

American Thinker: Obama's Nazi Straw man: An Old Alinsky Trick
"...in the spring of 1972, at Tulane University...students asked Alinsky to help plan a protest of a scheduled speech by George H. W. Bush, then U.S. representative to the United Nations - a speech likely to include a defense of the Nixon administration's Vietnam War policies. The students told Alinsky they were thinking about picketing or disrupting Bush's address. That's the wrong approach, he rejoined, not very creative - and besides causing a disruption might get them thrown out of school. He told them, instead, to go to hear the speech dressed as members of the Ku Klux Klan, and whenever Bush said something in defense of the Vietnam War, they should cheer and wave placards reading, ‘The KKK supports Bush.' And that is what they did, with very successful, attention-getting results."

Dr. Galt Won't See You Now - Perspective - PatriotPost.US: "Dr. Galt Won't See You Now
Wednesday, April 7, 2010
For anyone who believes that the fighting spirit of this country is a thing of the past, that everyone has slipped into complacent acceptance of an administration of thugs, Dr. Jack Cassell wants you to know that that's not true.
After the recent passing of ObamaCare, the Florida urologist taped a sign to the door of his practice that read: 'If you voted for Obama, seek urologic care elsewhere. Changes to your health care begin right now, not in four years.'
Cassell will not refuse to treat patients, he just suggests that Obama voters go elsewhere. He also notes that ObamaCare poses far more of a danger to his patients than his sign.
Somehow, though, this quiet but meaningful act of protest has earned Dr. Cassell the label of 'racist' by the certifiable Democrat Congressman Alan Grayson. Grayson, who is Cassell's 'representative' in Washington, recently emerged from relative obscurity to announce that Republicans 'want sick Americans to die,' before slithering back under the rock from which he came. Now he has reappeared, this time to try and intimidate those who are standing up for their right to live and work free from government oppression. Grayson is even bringing a suit against the doctor, clearly a message to other physicians who are thinking about opposing our 'Dear Leader.'
But Cassell refuses to be bullied. ObamaCare, he said, 'fatally compromises my ability or any doctor's ability to uphold the Hippocratic Oath' and that he 'can't believe that more people aren't standing up.'
Maybe now they will."

David Freddoso: Five things we learned about Obamacare after it passed Washington Examiner######

Use Reason

I was in my neighborhood restaurant this morning and was seated behind a group of jubilant individuals celebrating the successful passing of the recent health care bill. I could not finish my breakfast. This is what ensued:
They were a diverse group of several races and both sexes. I heard the young man exclaim, "Isn't Obama like Jesus Christ? I mean, after all, he is healing the sick." The young woman enthusiastically proclaimed, "Yeah, and he does it for free. I cannot believe anyone would think that a free market would work for health care. They are all crooks and thieves and don't deserve all of that money." Another said, "The stupid Republicans want us all to starve to death so they can inherit all of the power. Obama should be made a Saint for what he did for those of usless fortunate." At this, I had had enough.
I arose from my seat, mustering all the restraint I could find, and approached their table. "Please excuse me; may I impose upon you for one moment?" They smiled and welcomed me to the conversation. I stood at the end of their table, smiled as best I could and began an experiment.
"I would like to give one of you my house. It will cost you no money and I will pay all of the expenses and taxes for as long as you live there. Anyone interested?" They looked at each other in astonishment. "Why would you do something like that," asked a young man."There isn't anything for free in this world." They began to laugh at me, as they did not realize this man had just made my point. "I am serious, I will give you my house for free, no money what so ever. Anyone interested?" In unison, a resounding 'Hell Yeah' fills the room.
"Since there are too many of you, I will have to make achoice as to who receives this money free bargain." I noticed an elderly couple was paying attention to the spectacle unfolding before their eyes, the old man shaking his head in apparent disgust. "I tell you what; Iwill give it to the one of you most willing to obey my rules." Again, they looked at one another, an expression of bewilderment on their faces. The perky young woman asked, "What are the rules?" I smiled and said,"I don't know. I have not yet defined them. However, it is a free homethat I offer you." They giggled amongst themselves, the youngest of which said, "What an old coot. He must be crazy to give away his home. Go take your meds, old man." I smiled and leaned into the table a bit further. "Iam serious, this is a legitimate offer." They gaped at me for a moment.
"I'll take it you old fool. Where are the keys?" boasted the youngest among them. "Then I presume you accept ALL of my terms then?" I asked. The elderly couple seemed amused and entertained as they watched from the privacy of their table. "Oh hell yeah! Where do I sign up?" I took a napkin and wrote, "I give this man my home, without the burden offinancial obligation, so long as he accepts and abides by the terms that I shall set forth upon consummation of this transaction." I signed it and handed it to the young man who eagerly scratched out his signature."Where are the keys to my new house?" he asked in a mocking tone of voice. All eyes were upon us as I stepped back from the table, pulling the keys from pocket and dangling them before the excited new homeowner.
"Now that we have entered into this binding contract, witnessed by all of your friends, I have decided upon the conditions you are obligated to adhere from this point forward. You may only live in the house for one hour a day. You will not use anything inside of the home. You will obey me without question or resistance. I expect complete loyalty and admiration for this gift I bestow upon you. You will accept my commands and wishes with enthusiasm, no matter the nature. Your morals and principles shall be as mine. You will vote as I do, think as I do and do it with blind faith. These are my terms. Here are your keys." I reached the keys forward and the young man looked at me dumbfounded.
"Are you out of your mind? Who would ever agree to those ridiculous terms?" the young man appeared irritated. "You did when you signed this contract before reading it, understanding it and with the full knowledge that I would provide my conditions only after you committed to the agreement." Was all I said. The elderly man chuckled as his wife tried to restrain him. I was looking at a now silenced and bewildered group of people. "You can shove that stupid deal up your a** old man, I want no part of it" exclaimed the now infuriated young man. "You have committed to the contract, as witnessed by all of your friends; you cannot get out of the deal unless I agree to it. I do not intend to let you free now that I have you ensnared. I am the power you agreed to. I am the one you blindly and without thought chose to enslave yourself to. In short, I am your Master." At this, the table of celebrating individuals
became a unified group against the unfairness of the deal.
After a few moments of unrepeatable comments and slurs, I revealed my true intent. "What I did to you is what this administration and congress did to you with the health care legislation. I easily suckered you in and then revealed the real cost of the bargain. Your folly was in the belief that you can have something you did not earn; that you are entitled to that which you did not earn; that you willingly allowed someone else to think for you. Your failure to research, study and inform yourself permitted reason to escape you. You have entered into a trap from which you cannot flee. Your only chance of freedom is if your new Master gives it to you. A freedom that is given can also be taken away; therefore, it is not freedom." With that, I tore up the napkin and placed it before the astonished young man. "This is the nature of your new health care legislation."
I turned away to leave these few in thought and contemplation and was surprised by applause. The elderly gentleman, who was clearly entertained, shook my hand enthusiastically and said, "Thank you Sir,these kids don't understand Liberty these days." He refused to allow me to pay my bill as he said, "You earned this one, it is an honor to pick up the tab." I shook his hand in thanks, leaving the restaurant somewhat humbled, and sensing a glimmer of hope for my beloved country.
Use reason,

American Thinker: The Perfect Constitutional Storm

American Thinker: The Perfect Constitutional Storm
Larry Anderson does a great job of explaining why the "Commerce Clause" argument being made by several states against ObamaCare will fail. He also points out several arguments that can be made by "the people" that will certainly see the law repealed. My favorite is the Griswold vs Connecticut argument:

What is interesting about the possibility of a 9th Amendment challenge to ObamaCare is that previous "progressive" decisions issued by the Supreme Court could offer some of the best ammunition for the case that the legislation is unconstitutional.
Of particular importance is Griswold v. Connecticut. This poorly decided Supreme Court case (written in 1965) has become the heart and soul of the judicial "reasoning" behind Roe v. Wade (legalized abortion), Planned Parenthood v. Casey (husband need not be notified if wife has an abortion), and Lawrence v. Texas (Texas sodomy law ruled unconstitutional).
It would be the irony of ironies if Griswold v. Connecticut were used by the Supreme Court to overturn Obamacare -- and it just might be.
Justice Douglas, who wrote Griswold, found that "... specific guarantees in the Bill of Rights have penumbras, formed by emanations from those guarantees that help give them life and substance. Various guarantees create zones of privacy."
We could debate all day about what this gibberish means. But the Supreme Court has found it to be of the utmost importance. Griswold held that the state could not prevent a married couple from purchasing contraceptives. One would assume that the opposite would also be true -- that the state cannot force a married couple to buy and use contraceptives. Substitute "health insurance" for "condoms" and Griswold gives us an argument against the constitutionality of ObamaCare.
Douglas noted in his Griswold decision, "In NAACP v. Alabama, 357 U.S. 449, 462, we protected the 'freedom to associate and privacy in one's associations.'" One would think that it follows that the freedom to associate or not with an insurance company would be up to the individual citizen.
Douglas also declared, "Such a law cannot stand in light of the familiar principle, so often applied by this Court, that a 'governmental purpose to control or prevent activities constitutionally subject to state regulation may not be achieved by means which sweep unnecessarily broadly and thereby invade the area of protected freedoms.'"
Like whether or not to buy health insurance? Free to choose a level of coverage? And to be able to buy such insurance from whatever source a person desires -- free from the interference of the government?

I guess the Federal Govt is trying to hide the fact that both Social Security and Medicare are already operating in the red. How much of the tax money that is supposed to be in some fictitious trust fund is actually going to pay for salaries and buildings in the Social Security Administration?

Great article on the manipulation of silver pricing to artificial lows to benefit JP Morgan Chase and how the US Treasury Department used taxpayer money illegally to help Wall Street.

But I thought taxes weren't going up?

"But I though taxes weren't going up? Well, if you get your information from Obama's lapdog media you probably won't know any of this.
The 26 million small businesses in the US — like Eneslow Shoes, headed by CEO Robert Schwartz—are getting buried under an avalanche of new taxes, which include:

* An increase of 4.6% in federal taxes from 35% to 39.6% (expiration of Bush tax cuts)

* An increase in capital gains taxes from 15% to 20% (expiration of Bush tax cuts)

* A new tax of 3.85% on investment income, dividends, rents, royalties mandated in the new health care bill

* An increase in the Medicare payroll tax to 2.35% as mandated in the new health care bill

* In states like New Jersey and others, state and municipal taxes have been raised by the average of almost 2%"

Short-term customers boosting health costs - The Boston Globe

Short-term customers boosting health costs - The Boston Globe: "Thousands of consumers are gaming Massachusetts’ 2006 health insurance law by buying insurance when they need to cover pricey medical care, such as fertility treatments and knee surgery, and then swiftly dropping coverage, a practice that insurance executives say is driving up costs for other people and small businesses."

This is exactly what will be happening to health insurance companies on a national scale over the next year. Costs will skyrocket, those that opt to keep insurance rather than pay a fine and "game" the insurance law, as in Massachusetts, will find their premiums going up by 200-300%, while coverage plummets. Soon, all people with insurance will drop their coverage and pay the fine, then the insurance industry will collapse leaving us with the "Single Payer" system that the Democrats wanted all along.

Under the single payer system, costs will skyrocket with bureaucratic inefficiency and these costs will have to be paid for. The govt isn't going to produce any incentive for lowering costs, so they will increase taxes in the form of higher income taxes, penalties for non coverage and then the all hailed in Europe-Value Added Tax. The VAT in Europe and Canada is applied just like a national sales tax, with this little twist, the VAT adds a tax every time there is some value added to a product, raw ore made into steel-tax, steel cut into rods-tax, rods made into machine parts-tax, machine part added to machine-tax, machine sold to be installed in production line-tax. VAT adds up to approximately 15%, add this to state and local sales taxes and you will quickly be paying 25% of the cost of a new product in taxes.

Now add 50% of everything you earn going to various income taxes-federal, state, in many cases like NYC-Local, and FICA (since the FICA withholding is about to be increased as well) to 25% of your net going out to taxes when you spend and you really aren't left with much. (BTW, if you live in NYC and are in the highest tax bracket, your taxes are over 60% on income).

We are all officially financial slaves for the government. It's just going to take about 4 more years for them to slip the shackles on all of us, including those who thought they would not see a tax increase because Obama said so.

Survey: Four in 10 Tea Party members are Dems or independents - The Hill's Ballot Box
Democrats in power in DC had better start polishing up their resume's. If 40% of the Tea Partiers are Independents and Democrats, then the Status Quo is about to crumble. Only 20% of Americans identify themselves as Liberal, 60% as Conservative. The Tea Party seems to make up the difference that elected Obama in 2008. They are in deep pucky now.
