Healthcare what?
Bizarre? Now this is bizarre! | Ron Paul 2012 | Campaign for Liberty at the Daily Paul
OK, I think Waxman is off the deep end most of the time, like with the "Cap and Trade" fiasco he and Markey cooked up, but he has a very valid question to ask, and no answer will be forthcoming from Bernanke or his minions.

Bernake warns of debt crisis in USA
Again, no shit captain obvious! Bernanke, who is now coming under more and more pressure by the growing support of Ron Paul's Federal Reserve Audit Bill, has decided to play hard ball with the government. He's not going to print any more money. Funny thing is that he already printed and over inflated the money supply by 120% and has been buying Treasury Bonds with the money he's printing. In other words, he screwed the economy, collected the profits and now he's taking his winnings and going home.

GOP to Obama at summit: 'We have a better idea' - Yahoo! News
My question is, and has been, why do Democrats even believe that this could be legal according to the Constitution. Oh, yeah, I remember they wipe their collectivist asses with the Constitution and don't care if it is or isn't legal.
They love to cite the "commerce claus" as giving Congress the right to force this mammoth bohemoth down our throats. I beg to differ. The Constitution spells out in Article 1, section 8, clause 3, that the United States Congress shall have the power " To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes". Nowhere in that clause or anywhere else in the entire document does it say Congress shall have the power to force you to purchase anything from anyone including from the government.
This is a very, very bad route our Congress and President are taking. When people find out what this and all of the other new taxes are going to cost, I fear what the people may do.

Seriously, they hired Van Jones to teach at Princeton?
Jones, who resigned from his government post in September after months of controversy, was an adviser to the White House Council on Environmental Quality. He will hold a one-year appointment at the University for the 2010–11 academic year, teaching a course in the spring semester.
Are you kidding me? I cannot believe that Princeton thinks it's ok to hire a self avowed communist, convicted felon, gang member to teach our youth. Well, what am I saying, they are in New Jersey.
If I were a parent of a Princeton student, I would be suing the school for endangering my child. And demanding my tuition money back.

Debt Dynamite Dominoes: The Coming Financial Catastrophe
Thanks to Duncan for bringing this to my attention.
A little perspective on Scott Brown
More on 401(k) and Government confiscation
The Democrats, Progressives, Villiage Communists want your money and they are going to do whatever it takes to get it. This is not a joke, this is not a theory, they are coming for it and they will get it if you and I don't stand up for ourselves and tell Congress where to put these crazy ideas.
The Liberals in Congress do not believe in private property, self defense, self government or any of the other principals that this country was founded on. Since they don't believe in private property rights, they do believe that your wealth belongs to the State and should be managed by the State, not by you. If you think things are bad now, wait and see what happens when the Goverment manages your healthcare and your retirement income.
White House Breaking Federal Election Laws
Bribery, Graft and Conflicts of Interest: Acceptance or solicitation to obtain appointive public office

'D.C. job alleged as attempt to deter Romanoff'
--Denver Post
September 27, 2009
A bombshell has just exploded in the 2010 elections.
For the second time in five months, the Obama White House is being accused -- by Democrats -- of offering high ranking government jobs in return for political favors. What no one is reporting is that this is a violation of federal law that can lead to prison time, a fine or both, according to Title 18, Chapter 11, Section 211 of the United States Code.
The jobs in question? Secretary of the Navy and a position within the U.S. Agency for International Development."
The real question is: Since when would the present administration care about breaking laws? They keep telling people that they should be breaking kneecaps to make their intentions known.

Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) today asked the Obama administration to investigate what he called “the greatest scientific scandal of our generation” — the actions of climate scientists revealed by the Climategate Files, and the subsequent admissions by the editors of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fourth Assessment Report (AR4).
Senator Inhofe also called for former Vice President Al Gore to be called back to the Senate to testify.

Progressives hope new voting method will get attention
This year's academy awards voting method is a favorite of Progressives. It's a method that uses "instant runoff". Not sure how you could ever use this method without massive amounts of voter fraud.
In an instant-runoff system, voters make their second choices clear upfront. If no candidate wins a majority in the first round of voting, the contender with the fewest first-preference votes will be eliminated, just as in a normal runoff.
"The outcome is you can have a fractured field. You can have a quote, unquote winner who most people hate," Richie said. "You can imagine a scenario in which someone wins who is a really unrepresentative nominee."
Moneynews - Buffett's Partner: 'It's Over' for U.S. Economy
Charlie Munger, vice chairman at Berkshire Hathaway pretty much sums it up with this simple phrase:
"Basically, it's over"
More on the security of your 401(k)
You did the responsible thing. You saved in your IRA or 401(k) to support your retirement, when you could have spent that money on another vacation, or an upscale car, or fancier clothes and jewelry. But now Washington is developing plans for your retirement savings.
BusinessWeek reports that the Treasury and Labor departments are asking for public comment on “the conversion of 401(k) savings and Individual Retirement Accounts into annuities or other steady payment streams.”
In plain English, the idea is for the government to take your retirement savings in return for a promise to pay you some monthly benefit in your retirement years.
They will tell you that you are “investing” your money in U.S. Treasury bonds. But they will use your money immediately to pay for their unprecedented trillion-dollar budget deficits, leaving nothing to back up their political promises, just as they have raided the Social Security trust funds.
This “conversion” may start out as an optional choice, though you are already free to buy Treasury bonds whenever you want. But as Karl Denninger of the Market Ticker Web site reports: “‘Choices’ have a funny way of turning into mandates, and this looks to me like a raw admission that Treasury knows it will not be able to sell its debt in the open market — so they will effectively tax you by forcing your ‘retirement’ money to buy them.” [...]
Argentina provided a precedent in 2008, taking over that country’s private retirement accounts for forced investment in government bonds to cover spiraling deficits. Ambrose Evans-Pritchard editorialized at the time in Britain’s Daily Telegraph that this may be “a foretaste of what may happen across the world as governments discover .. . that the bond markets are unwilling to plug the (deficit) gap. . .. My fear is that governments in the U.S., Britain and Europe will display similar reflexes.”
This is just the latest chapter in what is developing into a war by the left on America’s seniors. All that class-war rhetoric about “the rich” ends up targeting seniors, who tend to have accumulated the most in savings and investment on average because they have been around the longest.
Socialist Dems taking a cue from Argentina. Heh. John at Powerline Blog writes:
Over the last four decades, Americans have saved hundreds of billions of dollars in such retirement accounts. I haven’t seen figures lately, but the total of such savings is most likely in the trillions.
Now we have an improvident federal government that has spent itself into a state of near-bankruptcy. It can survive only by selling Treasury bills to Americans and foreigners, but as the government’s debts accumulate, international demand for T-bills slackens. So the Democrats are looking for money. They can’t help noticing that Americans have saved many billions of dollars–private property, theoretically, but under contemporary constitutional jurisprudence, subject to pretty much any whim that may come out of Washington.
Kim Priestap writes:
Ever since Barack Obama was elected, we’ve seen larger and larger chunks of American life being gobbled up by government. Today’s Democrats are nothing more than thug socialists who can’t stand that there are still large swaths of the American people still living independently from government largesse and control. Now they are using what remaining power they have in Congress to change that. If the government takes over health care, college student loans, and retirement savings then no one, no matter how wealthy, can escape the thumb of big government.
This is why the Taxed Enough Already movement was born last year. Not “anti-government” but anti-statist. And it is the growing pushback by the “stupid people” that has Leftist authoritarians — from the triumvirate of Obama-Reid-Pelosi to the ilk of ACORN-SEIU-MSM — scrambling to suppress, bully, smear or even trick it (faux promotion of a 3rd party) in order to keep anti-statists from the polls in November.
If a person is no longer an independent individual, how can one muster the courage to fight* back? Indeed, the “narrative” promoted on the Left in support of Nannystatism is that there really is no such thing as “individual success” — individuals are “taking advantage” of the State’s gifts (education, economy, laws) so all success is really the State’s success. Individuals “owe” the State. Meritocracy is a myth, they cry. It is all a matter of redistribution of wealth and privilege, so SHUT UP and FEED ME! For all the eight years of blather that GW and admin was “shredding the Constitution”, it pales to what the Left has been trying to get done this first year of The Won’s presidency.
Unless this is turned around soon, we will be handing our children and grandchildren a far bleaker future.
*troll alert: contrary to harridan Arianna Huffington’s self-serving and cynical hysteria, I use “fight” here metaphorically.
Obama's fellow Dems are cannon fodder in his plan | Washington Examiner
My first impression of this sentence:

Concentrated evil of Republicanism- are you kidding me? How far left is the Examiner? Whenever the "lamestream" media refers to conservatism in general, it's always with some underlying hatred. Frankly, I'm sick and tired of it.
Of course Democrats are cannon fodder for Obama's healthcare plan backlash. Why would anyone think this man whose brother lives on $10 per year in a mud hut in Kenya and whose aunt is living in government housing in Boston, would give a crap about anyone else? It's all about him and his ego.

Democrats thinking about stealing your 401(k)
95% of Americans won't get a tax increase, just like Obama promised. Instead they will lose everything that they worked for and saved. I don't know about you, but I'm closing my 401(k) and buying gold to bury in the back yard in mason jars. I will not have this bunch of morons steal my hard earned retirement.
That's my advice, by precious metals. Gold, Silver and Lead. Gold and Silver for wealth and Lead to protect it. I would also think long and hard about a Lead delivery system. I prefer the AR-15.
Obama to spell out new healthcare plan - Yahoo! News
Never before in my lifetime have I witnessed a more arrogant, out of touch group of politicians. They are about to push legislation down our throats that by and large is not wanted by the American people and they really don't care. If we allow these people to stay in office after this "healthcare" plan is forced upon us, then heaven help us because we won't have the means to help ourselves.
The United States of America is on a direct course to bankruptcy. Most people are aware that there is a financial problem out there but have no idea the magnitude of the coming collapse. This bit of legislation will push the debt and ensuing taxation through the roof. There is no way to pay for this. There will be no way to escape it.

A few thoughts on Palin
She stood up to her own party in Alaska, she stood up to Federal intrusion of State's Rights issues, she Actually Ran A City, as compared to the "community organizer", who has never created or saved anything, nor has he ever paid a payroll with funds that his efforts created. Federal Funds are "Confiscated" so they don't count . The liberals in this country are absolutely terrified by a woman that is ok with who she is. The can't stand the fact that she is strong, doesn't need a "program" to fall back on, won't be a "victim".
There are people in this country that get more of there opinion forming "news" or "information" from TMZ, MTV, and American Idol than anywhere else. Wake up.
Most people that don't like Palin, believe that she "thinks she can see Russia" from her house- That's a line from Tina Fey on SNL.
I don't think Palin is the future of America. I don't think that I would support her as President, because she would end up splitting the vote and put the idiot man-boy back in the White House, but I think if you want to take an honest look at politics, you had better look at why you hate Palin. Is it because you studied her political career or because someone told you not to like her.

Report: Stimulus Weatherization Program Bogged Down by Red Tape - ABC News
Another perfect example of why Government cannot create jobs or manage money with any efficiency whatsoever. A part of this program is the famed window replacement program wherein tax refunds are available for installing energy efficient new windows that meet "certain" Energy Star requirements. The difference between the regular, run of the mill Energy Star windows, which are thermo-pane double insulated, "low e" glass models and the Energy Star windows approved by the government to be eligable is a whopping effieiency difference of .03%. The approved windows on average cost twice as much and would generate a .03% savings in energy usage.
In a typical installation for replacement windows, say a house with 15 windows, you would pay about $6500 just for materials for the Government's "approved" windows. The "off the shelf" at your local home center, Energy Star rated replacement window would be about $3200 for the same number of windows. Now, you would be eligable for "up to" a $1500 tax credit to apply toward the cost of your new "approved" windows, bringing your investment after your tax credit is applied down to $5000. On the bright side, your new windows will save you about an extra .03% on your heating and cooling bill. For argument's sake lets pretend you have a total electric home and your current electric bill runs an average of $200 per month. Replacing the windows with the "off the shelf" Energy Star windows is touted as saving up to 30% on your energy use. This should lower your electric bill to around $140 per month.
So, logic would have it that your extra $1500 out of pocket for the Government "approved" windows will pay for themselves in no time. Let's do the math, that extra .03% works out to $.60 per month x 12 months = $7.2/year.
At that rate to make up your difference for supporting the Government Approved Program will take 208 years and 4 months, after that you are on easy street with the savings just rolling in.

Universities line up against gun bill | ajc.com
As usual, the acedemics are lined up to prohibit the exercise of our rights garaunteed by the Constitution. I have never been able to understand why people feel like the 2nd amendment should have limitations on it. Do any of the other rights garaunteed by our Constitution have geographic limitations imposed upon them? Are you only allowed under say the 5th Amendment, not to provide self incriminating evidence as long as you aren't in church or at a football game? Limitations on the ability for law abiding, concealed carry permit holders should not exist. The right to self defense is paramount to all other rights, for without the right to defend ones person, none of the others matter.
Universities are lining up to prohibit CCP holders, who have been investigated by law enforcement and proven to be eligible under the law to posess firearms, from exercising their rights. Do you really believe that the criminals that wait for, the known to be unarmed, students at GA Tech to rob them at gunpoint are carrying firearms leagally? If students who are legally of age and have been issued permits to carry concealed weapons did so, the criminal element might think twice before commiting a crime on campus.
I'm sorry to the Board of Regents, but your arguments just don't hold any water. More guns carried legally means less crime, not more. Just look at 2009 for example: More guns were sold in the USA than ever in a single year, aprox 14 million new guns vs 2008 when just over 8 million were sold. At the same time, violent crime for the same period was down 15%.

Just print more money.
Behind closed doors and with no cameras present, President Obama signed into law Friday afternoon the bill raising the public debt limit from $12.394 trillion to $14.294 trillion.
The current national debt is $12.3 trillion. Check out the National Debt Clock, which tells you your share of that -- roughly $40,000 per citizen, $113,000 per taxpayer.
The bill also establishes a statutory Pay-As-You-Go procedure requiring that new non-emergency legislation affecting tax revenue or mandatory spending not increase the Federal deficit – in other words, that any new spending or tax cuts be paid for with new taxes or spending cuts.
I think it's important to look at the amount now owed by every American, vs the amount to be paid by taxpayers. This means less than half of all Americans are now paying taxes. If that be the case, I fear that we are soon to reach the tipping point and the taxpayers will no longer tolerate the reckless spending and taxation in the USA.

HuffPo is making stuff up again
A story about how 2009 has been the most profitable year ever for K Street lobbyists. No doubt about that, but as is the style of HuffPo they have once again quoted an unnamed source for their damning testimony.
"Republican lobbyist put it more bluntly:
"This agenda has been great for OUR economy," he said. "We get paid to get Republicans pissed off at Democrats, which they rightfully are. It's the easiest thing in the world. It's like getting paid to get you to love your mother. Everyone, Republican and even some Democratic lobbyists are laughing at Obama on their way to the bank.""
Otherwise all of the commentary is quoted by actual Democrat operatives. I guess they just made up the anonymous quote above. I think anyone with half a brain could have seen through this hogwash. All the lobbying that I have seen this year has been going on inside the White House making closed door deals with the Obama administration. Need a reminder of Big Pharma making deals for the Healthcare bill? How about Andy Stern from SEIU who is in the White House weekly? There is overwhelming evidence out there that shows the Obama administration pandering to special intrests. Just because they say it aint so doesn't make it that way.
Obama Economic Advisor Larry Summers- what a freaking moron!
President Obama continuously tries to portray himself as a friend to the little-man, middle class and small business. Hence his attacks on “fat cats” who “just don’t get it,” while labeling the extravagant bonuses as “obscene,” and “the height of irresponsibility.”
Meanwhile, members of his administration, in defending a sweeping small-business aid program Obama announced in his State of the Union, give reason to wonder if they really understand how to help small business.
Among the administration’s proposals for small businesses are a $5,000 tax credit to hire new workers, elimination of capital gains taxes, and new incentives to invest in plants and equipment. At the same time, however, the administration plans to raise taxes on “the wealthiest Americans.”
Obama’s chief economic adviser Larry Summers appeared Feb. 9 on the Fox Business Channel to discuss the administration’s economic agenda and defended proposed rate-hikes for those making over $250,000. “Almost all economists who studied these things have that kind of view,” he told Fox’s Liz Claman.
Perplexed, Fox News contributor Gary B. Smith replied: “it’s the biggest bunch of B.S. I ever heard … this is such a political game. , Larry Summers thinks everyone is Rockefeller living in their Newport, Rhode Island mansion. These are guys that are starting businesses, investing. You can’t give people business money to hire people, they have to have a reason for hiring these people and that’s because they see sales increasing or costs decreasing. You can’t just say ‘go hire these five people’ because the businesses will go ‘What for? I don’t have the demand!’”
So, here comes the Tax on the Middle Class that Obama said wouldn't happen
By Rich Miller
Feb. 11 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama said he is “agnostic” about raising taxes on households making less than $250,000 as part of a broad effort to rein in the budget deficit.

In The Forgotten Man, Amity Shlaes takes us back to show us how the roots of our disillusionment can be found in a single election year, 1936. In that year, Franklin Roosevelt systematically established the modern political constituency, from unions to artists, to senior citizens. Roosevelt’s solution was to spend for these groups, so extensively that federal spending that year outpaced state and local spending, for the first time ever in peacetime. The consequence was the Roosevelt landslide of 1936 –but also the modern entitlement trap.
Star Wars
The Missile Defense Agency demonstrated the potential use of directed energy to defend against ballistic missiles when the Airborne Laser Testbed (ALTB) successfully destroyed a boosting ballistic missile. The experiment, conducted at Point Mugu Naval Air Warfare Center-Weapons Division Sea Range off the central California coast, serves as a proof-of-concept demonstration for directed energy technology. The ALTB is a pathfinder for the nation’s directed energy program and its potential application for missile defense technology.
At 8:44 p.m. (PST), February 11, 2010, a short-range threat-representative ballistic missile was launched from an at-sea mobile launch platform. Within seconds, the ALTB used onboard sensors to detect the boosting missile and used a low-energy laser to track the target. The ALTB then fired a second low-energy laser to measure and compensate for atmospheric disturbance. Finally, the ALTB fired its megawatt-class High Energy Laser, heating the boosting ballistic missile to critical structural failure. The entire engagement occurred within two minutes of the target missile launch, while its rocket motors were still thrusting.
This was the first directed energy lethal intercept demonstration against a liquid-fuel boosting ballistic missile target from an airborne platform. The revolutionary use of directed energy is very attractive for missile defense, with the potential to attack multiple targets at the speed of light, at a range of hundreds of kilometers, and at a low cost per intercept attempt compared to current technologies.
Less than one hour later, a second solid fuel short-range missile was launched from a ground location on San Nicolas Island, Calif. and the ALTB successfully engaged the boosting target with its High Energy Laser, met all its test criteria, and terminated lasing prior to destroying the second target. The ALTB destroyed a solid fuel missile, identical to the second target, in flight on February 3, 2010."
