I'm optimistic for the chances of Libertarians running in Georgia. The Libertarian Party of Georgia has 3 local candidates running. Amanda Swafford is running for Re-Election in the Flowery Branch City Council race, Lance Lamberton for Austell City Council and Doug Craig for Griffin City Council. Good Luck!
In Athens, I'm not so optimistic.
We have an Education SPLOST vote going on today. Athens Clarke County spends the third highest amount per student in the state, and has the third lowest graduation rates.
Not only that, but the SPLOST was created to lower the millage rate for our property taxes. Today our millage rate is at the maximum allowable by law in the county and the SPLOST is just icing on top of the big ole tax cake.
The only thing that wasn't on the ballot locally, Sunday Sales of Alcohol. One of our county commissioners is even on record as saying the issue would not be on the ballot because she was afraid pro Sunday Sales voters would be anti-SPLOST voters.

More Electronic Voting Fraud
You may recall, that back on October 5th, I ran a story about electronic voting fraud wherein I described problems in Georgia's system. David Chastain, Libertarian candidate for Secretary of State in Georgia is the only person running that is working to solve this problem.
Today there are reports from two other states, North Carolina and Nevada where the electronic machines picked candidates for the voter. In North Carolina, if you chose to vote the entire slate of Republicans, you got Democrats. In Nevada, if you try to vote for Sharon Angle, Harry Reid is already chosen for you.
Electronic Voting Machine fraud is going to be rampant as a last ditch effort of the Statist Quo to keep power in DC.
If you want to vote for principled candidates, maybe they shouldn't have a D or an R next to their names. Vote your conscience, Vote Libertarian.

How important is the issue of electronic voting? David Chastain, Libertarian candidate for GA Sec of State has an idea.
So, how important is the issue and potential problem of electronic voting?
In a Washington Post news article today it was reported that hackers had broken into the DC online voting trial. Just one more reason electronic voting in general is suspect.
Unverifiable electronic voting is now only available in 3 states, Georgia being one of them. No paper trail, no written record of your vote.
David Chastain, Libertarian candidate for Secretary of State in Georgia has built his campaign on this issue.
"I am alarmed that almost 1% of electronic ballots cast in Georgia are blank, or undercounted. I am gravely concerned about the electronic voting systems we use in Georgia. When one realizes that we are one of only three states with state-wide unverifiable electronic voting, one must wonder - why?" - says his website. Mr. Chastain went to the archives and searched for 1 issue ballots, simple yes/no votes, in Georgia over the last several years since electronic voting machines have been used and found that in not one, single election did the tally of number of votes cast balance to zero with the number of yes plus number of no votes. His research shows across the board the margin of error to be .8% on average.
How many major elections are won by a margin of .8% or less? How about the 2000 Florida ballot that ultimately decided the presidential election with a total .01% margin?
How about the election of Al Franken to the US Senate which was decided by a margin of .001%
Those elections are deciding policy makers for millions of people. Think it's important now?
